Minard wanted to be a farmer and he had some health problems (lung problems?) so he moved out to the Mt Horeb area and began farming. His mother wanted him to be a lawyer, but it was not to be. He fell off a hay wagon when a rake or machine swung around and knocked him off. He died of complications from that one day before his mother died. His mother bought him the farm on Dock Watch Hollow Rd, Warren, NJ.
Minard married Ella BETTS.
