• Fact: 24 Oct 1878. ²⁴⁵⁵ "..I never received any answer to my letter to Wm. Marshall. In that letter I told him thing I had copied from a Watkins Express of Oct. 24, 1878. I copied a sketch of the life of John M. C. written when he was 90 years old as it would appear that he died on Dec. 2nd, 1885. Later I lost this copy which I hope to replace. 'He was born in Fishing Creek, Northumberland Co., Penn. on the 26th day of Mar. 1787.' according to the sketch of Oct. 1878. (this makes him 91!). 'the oldest son of Benjamin Coddington.' Also, according to this sketch -- 'he and his first wife Sally Owens Coddington had six sons and four daughters,' including my grandfather Aaron O. (the oldest), Jonathan, Lewis, Lucinda (Crippen), Jane (Saylor), Susan (who never married), and (I believe) John. I believe the others died in early childhood and were perhaps buried on the farm."
