Problem with dates. John E., if born in 1886, cannot be the son of Christopher, b. 1878.
John E. Coddington appears as a head of household with his wife and first three children in the 1910 census, aged given as 24. Merlyn Coddington lists John as son of Christopher (abt 1878-) and Mary with seven children in his Rootsweb database, including his daughter Clotilde, an unusual name. Merlyn's source must have been a correspondent.
There seem to be no other John Coddingtons of the right age who are not already accounted for in the 1910 census. The contradiction cannot be resolved at this point one way or the other. ¹⁴⁴
