"William A. Coddington departed this life on Thursday, May 25, 1922 at 1 o'clock PM. He had been afflicted for years with rheumatism, applexey and had been almost entirely confined to his bed since one year ago last December. Mr Coddington enlisted in the Civil War at the age of 18, the father and five brothers enlisted, they have a combined war record of 19 years service. Uncle Billy Coddington, as known to everybody was an old Rush county settler, whose many friends regret that old age and the attending infirmities called to the Great Beyond ...........John Coddington, as son of Cherokee, Okla, and daughter Fern, attended the funeral. James Coddington, a son and family of Palco, Kansas, a brother L. C. Coddington of Palco, Kansas, Mrs Rachel Stitchem, a sister, Capt. J. D.. Coddington, the oldest brother from Osage City, almost 90, and other relatives were present."
