George Howard Coddington was born in Rockville, Ind., November 8, 1842. At the outbreak of the Civil War he, together with his father and four brothers entered the service. Honorably discharged July 18, 1865, having served four years, three months with the colors. He was married to Jemima Morris in July 1865 and to this union were born 5 children: Lewis S., Palco, Kansas; Daniel L., Palco, Kansas; Margaret E. died in infancy; Sarah E. Rogers and Mary B. Stokes both of Palco, Kansas.
He was married to Mary E. Christy in 1879. To this union seven children were born, one child, Fanne E. Osborn, still living. The wife died in August 1886.
He was married to Florence B. Rogers, March 24, 1889. To this union were born six children, Ethel, Myrtle, Lavada, Thomas, Isaac and William.
He united with the Christian church in 1877. Reconsecrated his life March 11, 1917. Died at his home in Palco, Kansas, Saturday morning, 12:20 o'clock May 17, 1919, age 76 years, 6 months, 9 days.
