General Notes: A 1911 article in the Evening News relates that Horace and his brother Joel were indicted for illegally obtaining monies of Warren Township while the former acted as clerk for the town. The arrests were made after a three month investigation by Special Supreme Commissioner Hugh K. Gaston. Although Joel Coddington had pleaded ["non vult" =nolo contendere??] to the charges and at the time of the newspaper article was awaiting sentencing, Horace pleaded innocent and acted as his own counsel. 759 Noted events in his life were: • He appeared on the census in 1880 in Warren Twp., Somerset Co., New Jersey, USA. 684 |
