Christopher CODDINGTON ¹²⁴

  General Notes:

Ancestor of many Coddingtons in Rochester, Ulster Co., New York. See remarks under Benjamin 1708. Christopher followed his putative brother Joseph to Ulster Co, New York in the early 1750's, where he married the Dutch girl Maria Oosterhoudt. Their first four children (Ariaentje, Ida, Benjamin, and Levi), were all baptized at Rochester, but the next two, Joseph and John, were baptized in Orange Co., New York.
Some time after 1765 (the baptism of John) and before 1778 (Pennsylvania tax record) Christopher and his family had removed to Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania. In the hypothesis adopted here, Christopher and Maria continued to have four more sons between 1765 and 1784, all probably born in Pennsylvania.
