William's will was made May 9, 1820 and probated Sep 27, 1826. (Vol II Abstracts of Wills June 27, 1787 to Dec 31, 1830 Orange County Surrogate's Office, Goshen, NY) (Furnished by Perry Streeter, March 2001).
According to a letter from Elizabeth Horton, a genealogist from Middletown NY, to John Insley Coddington, the will mentions his wife Susanna, and his sister Phoebe Parshall, and brothers Benjamin and Joseph. Other heirs without specified relationship were Nathaniel Brewster and wife Keziah and their children Susanna Coddington Brewster and William Coddington Brewster, and Jacob Oakley and his son William Coddington Oakley.
Listed as a Commissioner of Roads in 1785. Owned slaves in 1790, 1800, and 1820 census.
On the 1790 census he appears three households away from Enoch Coddington, his brother, and two away from James Parshall, brother of John Parshall, to whom his sister Phebe Jane was married.
Doubtfully present in 1810 cenus for Newburgh as "William Currington."
The 1820 census also lists a "Pomp" Cudington, who may have been a freed slave of William.
Paid road taxes through 1813, thereafter absent from town records. 2873,2874,2875
