  • Born: Abt 1640
  • Marriage: Ruth ADAMS

  General Notes:

Thomas CAWOOD was known to be in Connecticut in 1640 and in Woodbridge, New
Jersey in 1675. He was a follower of Reverend John Youngs who had probably been
the pastor of the Congregational Church at Hingham, Norfolkshire, England and
brought his church with him to New Haven, Connecticut in 1639/40.

A Stephen CAWOOD, baptized on May 14, 1630, at Pontefract, York, England,
emigrated to America in the latter part of 1665 and founded the Maryland branch
of the CAWOOD family. His wife was Ann Terrett. He was killed in the Indian
War in 1675. Stephen CAWOOD's ancestry is known back to about 1200. It is
probable, but not proved, that Stephen CAWOOD was a brother of Thomas CAWOOD

Thomas married Ruth ADAMS, daughter of Thomas ADAMS and Rebecca POTTER.
