The Will of Margaret "Douthart" of Cabell co., WVA Perhaps the most striking item is ... the will of Margaret Douthitt(art) of Cabell county, W. VA. (formerly Hampshire county, W. VA., widow of John Douthit, Sr. of that county), a will which proves that Lewis Douthitt(art) is her grandson, the son of her son Silas...

"LAST WILL OF MARGARET DOUTHART, being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory, in the name of God, make this my last will and testament, revoking all other wills heretofore made by me.
ITEM. I give and bequeath to my son, Silas Douthart, one negro woman named Delpha, to him and his heirs, forever.
I give and bequeath to my son, David Douthart, one negro boy, named Benjamin, to him and his heirs, forever.
I lend to my son, Daniel Douthart, during his natural life, one negro boy, named Joseph, and at his, Daniel's Death, I will said boy, Joseph, to my grandson, Lewis Douthart, to him and to his heirs, forever, son of Silas Douthart.
I will that the tract of land that I now occupy, containing one hundred acres, shall be sold at public sale.
I give and bequeath to my daughter, Catherine Dunkle, Thirty dollars, current money.
I give to my daughter Polly Davis, Thirty dollars worth of clothes or store goods.
I give to my daughter, Rebecca Cooper, Thirty dollars in current money.
I give to my granddaughter, Margaret Billups, Thirty dollars.
I give to Sarah Devore, five shillings.
I give to Robey Ann Willliams, my granddaughter, one side saddle.
I will that negro boy, Henry and negro girl, Mary, and all my household and kitchen furniture, and all my stock of every kind, to be sold at public sale.
I will that after my just debts are paid and the legacies herein-mentioned, the balance to be equally divided among my son, Daniel Douthart, my daughter, Rebecca Cooper and my granddaughter, Margarett.
I hereby appoint Richard Brown, my good and lawful executor. Year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-one.
