  General Notes:

Jacob kept an inn at Accord and was a farmer. His military record seems peculiar, because apparently he served on both sides of the Revolutionary War.
On the one hand, a Jacob Coddington is listed as a private in both the Orange Co. 4th Militia regiment, and the Ulster Co. 3rd.
On the other, a Jacob Coddington was a Tory [loyalist], and served in the British New York Volunteers in the Revolutionary War, for which service he was granted 200 acres of land in York County, New Brunswick, Canada, lying on the east side of Madamkisway Creek, 30 Jan. 1787. Sold the New Brunswick land 17 Oct. 1787 to Solomon Whitlock for £3, and returned to Ulster Co., NY.
The 1790 census lists a Jacob Coddington in Rochester New York with 2 males under 16 (Jacob 1785 and ??) and four females (Maria, Harriet and ??). He was also enumerated in Rochester in 1800 and 1810.

(p. xv) "The New York Volunteers were recruited in Halifax in January, 1776 by Captain Archibald Campbell. Later commanders were Major Alexander Grant and Lieutenant George Turnbull. They were sent to East Florida in December, 1778, and were in the siege of Savannah in 1779 and the siege of Charleston in 1870. They returned to New York and were disbanded in Nova Scotia in 1783."
