The death of Mrs. Charlotte M. Call, widow of the late Dr. Call, was announced in this place Tuesday morning, she having passed away at ten minutes to four in the morning. The deceased was the daughter of the late James Colby who died last fall. The funeral took place at the house at 11 o' clock yesterday, attended to by the Rev. E. T. Farrill of the Congregational church of Hopkinton. At about one o' clock the remains accompanied by mourners and friends, were carried by a special train to Concord and were deposited at Blossom Hill cemetery beside those of her husband, who died some ten years ago. The deceased was fifty-four years and four months of age, and leaves her aged mother, Mrs. James Colby, two brothers, James B., of Concord and John Colby, and one sister, Mrs. Susan Gerrish of this place to mourn her loss. The funeral was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. The deceased was prepared and ready to go, and has always mourned the loss of her husband. She was greatly beloved and respected by a large circle of friends.
She was buried in the Blossom Hill Cemetery at Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire Parents: James B. COLBY and Hannah B. EMERSON.

Dies At Hale
Chester E. Colby, age 63, 90 Main st. Groveland, retired Haverhill fireman died this morning at the Hale Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Colby was named a substitute fireman Aug 1, 1912, and a call man the following Year, Aug. 6, 1913.
He became a permanent fireman Jul 24, 1916, and served as acting lieutenant from May, 1944, to October, 1946. He was attached to Ladder 1. He retired from the fire department in 1948.
HE WAS BORN in Haverhill, March 11, 1888, son of the late Charles C., and Abbie Colby, and had lived in Haverhill until three years ago when he moved to Groveland.
Mr. Colby was a member of Saggahew lodge, AF and AM, and attended the Second Baptist church of East Haverhill.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Addie (White) Colby, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Arakelian, of Groveland; two sons, John W. Colby, Plaistow, N. H., and Richard W. Colby, Montgomery, Ala.; one uncle John M. Hicks, Haverhill, and six grandchildren.
THE FUNERAL service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Gardner funeral home, 150 Summer st. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, East Haverhill. Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. Monday.

Rockland - Chester W. Colby, 79, died Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro after a short illness.
Born in Rockland on February 9, 1923, he was the son of William and Dorothy Lurvy Colby. He attended local schools before entering the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
After returning home he worked most of his life as a commercial fisherman and at times was self-employed.
His son states that "he was dearly loved by his family and will be missed". He was also known to be "very meticulous and set in his ways".
He was a member of the Penobscot View Grange and enjoyed going to the meetings. As a member of the Rockland Elks club, he loved going to beano nights. A passionate card player he could often be found at the lodge involved in a game.
He is survived by one son, William Colby and his fiancé Misty Gardner of Warren, two step-daughters, Marie Kaler of Manchester N.H. and K.T. Kaler in Michigan; one brother, Ralph Colby and his wife Elsie of Spruce Head, two step-sisters, Bernice Hoffses of Waldoboro, Evie Joan Winchenbach of California; six grandchildren, Cody Colby, Dustin Lavoie, Shaylynn Lavoie, Cammi Colby, Cadden Lavoie and Keegin Colby and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
