MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - Laverne W. Colby, 85, of Merritt Island. He died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1910 in Crystal Lake, to Earl and Hazel (Fryer) Colby. He married Leona Colby on April 15, 1957, in Chicago.
He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston with a bachelor's degree in finance.
Survivors include a son, Paul Colby, of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; a daughter, Brook Gruszak of Streamwood; four grandchildren, Chase, Troy, J. R., and Cheyenne, and three care givers, Idella Eberhardt, Sheila Smiley and Annette Long.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
The visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
