He was buried in the Old Town Cemetery at Newton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire
He was a soldier at Haverhill, being impressed, and stationed in the house of Captain Simon Wainwright, Aug 29, 1708, when the town was attacked by the Indians and a number of the inhabitants massacred and others carried into captivity. He was made captive by the Indians, and taken to Canada, where he was deprived of his freedom by the French until Oct. 5, 1712, when he started for home, arriving in Newbury Nov. 8, 1712. He was a cordwainer and husbandman, and lived in Newbury until his marriage, when he settled in that part of Amesbury that became the present town of Newton, New Hampshire, when the State line was determined in 1741. In 1768 he was called "esquire".
