Martha Ida Sherman Colby Miller, age 79, passed away December 9, 1994 in Sandy, Utah.
Born May 3, 1915 in Huntington, Utah, daughter of Lyman Royal and Martha Ellen Jones Sherman. Married Elmer Colby November 22, 1933 in the Manti LDS Temple; he preceded her in death. Married George Marcus Miller June 20, 1959 in Huntington, Utah; he preceded her in death. Active member of the LDS Church, where she taught Primary, Sunday School and served as secretary in the Primary.
She loved birds, ceramics, crossword puzzles and parties with her family.
Survived by children, LaVee and husband, Gee Pierce, West Valley City; Arlene Mires, Andrews, Texas; Elaine Colby, Salt Lake City; Gary and wife, Debbie Colby, Bennion; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Zelma Brady, Bountiful; Venna Austin, Sigurd; Bertha Branch, Wellington, Belva Minchey, Ephraim.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the Cannon 4th Ward, 1301 South 1200 West. Friends may call Monday, 5-7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, and Tuesday at the church, 9-9:40 a.m. Interment, Huntington Cemetery.

Mrs. Betty S. Colby, 32, of Route 1, Walkup ave., Crystal Lake, died Wednesday, May 24, in McHenry hospital. She was born June 13, 1928, in Crystal Lake, a daughter of Archibald and Gertrude Thorpe Sherwood, Sr.
On July 13, 1957, she was married to Lester F. Colby in the First Methodist church, Crystal Lake.
Surviving her are her husband, both parents, a brother, Archie Sherwood, Jr., three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Lillian) Reinholts, Mrs. Clarence (Laura) Burman, and Mrs. Edward (Esther) Neumann, all of Crystal Lake.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Querhammer Funeral Home, the Rev. Lloyd Coleman of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery.
She was buried in the Union Cemetery at Crystal Lake, McHenry County, Illinois

LaDean Sherwood Mellor Thomas 1/5/1923 ~ 6/19/2004 Our mother, LaDean, returned to her Heavenly Father on June 19, 2004, age 81, due to complications following a stroke.
She was born Jan. 5, 1923 in Levan, Utah to Glen Ervan Sherwood and Edna Arvilla Morgan Sherwood. She graduated from Juab High in 1941. Married Merrill Paul Mellor, June 1941 in the Manti Temple, he died Mar. 1985. She married Myron Morgan Thomas Aug. 1988 in the Provo Temple, he died Jan. 1999.
LaDean was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was devoted to the LDS Church and sincerely loved the gospel. She served in many positions in the Church. She was dedicated to genealogy research and temple work. Mom took great pride in keeping an immaculate home and enjoyed gardening. Mom and her sisters liked to get together to make quilts to give as gifts and she also worked as a seamstress for much of her life. She found joy in her later life learning to play the organ. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers and her special friends very much. She will be missed for her quiet sense of humor and was the anchor of her family.
She is survived by her five children, Stephen (Eddie) Mellor, Rexburg, ID; Mary Jean Sanderson, Magna, UT; Karen (Arland) Kester, Cheyenne, WY; LaVon (Bonnie) Mellor, Spring City, UT; Lynn Mellor, Salt Lake City, UT. She has 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. Born third of a family of 10 children, she is survived by five sisters and two brothers. Preceded in death by parents, sister, Verna Foote, brother, Stanley Sherwood and granddaughter, Melody Anne Mellor.
