SALINA. Raymonde Helene Viel Colby Olsen 79, passed away May 6, 2003 in Richfield Utah. She was born January 18, 1924 in Paris, France a daughter of Emile and Juliette Martin Viel. She married Gerald Colby January 28, l947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later divorced. She married Jay Olsen June 12, 1962. He died June 15, 1987. She is survived by two sons. Michel (Rosalie) Colby of Aurora and Steve Colby of Salina. Seven grandchildren. four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, David Olsen, infant daughter, Jacqueline Colby; husband Jay Olsen, and parents. Graveside services will be Saturday May 10, 2003 at 12:00 Noon in the Salina Eastside Cemetery. Friends may Call at Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina Saturday morning 10:30 to 11:30 Prior to services. Burial in Salina Eastside Cemetery directed by Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Salina, Richfield and Gunnison.

Vroom, Hendrick D., was born in Hunterdon county, N. J., in 1796, and his wife, Maria Beekman, in 1797. They were married in Readington, N. J., December 20, 1820, by Rev. Peter Studdiford, and four years later left their New Jersey home and drove to Ogden, locating where Samuel W. Vroom now lives. The children of these parents were gs follows: Peter Q., born February 26, 1822, now at San Francisco, Cal.; Eliza, born November 15, 1823, who married Amos N. Colby; Henry, born November 7, 1825, now of San Francisco; Margaret, born July 31, 1827, who married Servetos Wilmot; Julia M., born August 18, 1835; Ellen J., born December 17, 1837, who died July 28, 1875; Samuel W., born January 18, 1840; George, born August 16, 1843, who died May 23, 1864. Hendrick D. Vroom died August 8, 1886, and his wife March 18, 1879. Samuel W. Vroom was born on his present farm, educated at Brockport Academy, July 26, 1862, enlisted in Co. B, 108th Regt. EARLY BREMER COUNTY SETTLER DIES TUESDAY
Mrs Abraham Colby, who came to Bremer county in 1871 and for the past 16 years has lived at Waterloo, died at the home of her son, Harry Colby. In that city early Tuesday morning , aged 92 years.
When the family came to Bremer county they settled on a farm south of Waverly, where they lived up to about thirty years ago, when they sold the farm and moved to Waverly. Mr Colby died here in 1908 and four years later his wife took up her residence in Waterloo, where her son had settled.
Julia Vroom was born Aug 18, 1835, at Odgen Center, NY and grew to womanhood there. She was graduated from Phipps Union seminary, near Rochester, NY when she was 17 years old. She was married to Abraham Colby Jan 02, 1867. That year they moved to Ionia, Mich where her husband owned a lumber mill.
Mrs Colby was a member of the Congregational church.
She is survived by her son, Harry E. Colby of Waterloo, and a daughter, Miss Nanna Colby, of Panama City, Fla. : three grandchildren and one great grandchild. On being notified of her mothers condition, Miss Colby came from Florida three weeks ago and being a nurse was able to do much for her mother during her illness.
The funeral was held from the home of her son, Wednesday afternoon, Rev J.R. Morgan officiating. The body was brought to Waverly that day, and placed into the vault at Harlington cemetery.
