Gloria "Bebe" M. (Buswell) Colby, 84, of Concord died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Archie and Katherine (McGrath) Buswell.
She was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Concord. She retired after 36 years as a claims adjuster with Morrill and Everett Insurance. She was past state president and 60-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved to volunteer, especially at the New Hampshire Veterans Home and with children. Her favorite pastimes were playing golf, dancing, exercise class, and visiting with friends and family. She loved yodeling and playing the harmonica.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward C. Colby Jr.; her daughters, Roberta "Bobbi" Johnson and Geraldine Ellen Colby; her great-grandson, Alan Edward Capehart; her sister, Marion (Buswell) McKinnon; and her two brothers, John Buswell and Walter Buswell.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda K. and David Meader of Concord; her granddaughter, Bridget G. Meader of Concord; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 180 Loudon Road, Concord.
Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire, 814 Elm St., Suite 300, Manchester 03101; or Dartmouth-Hitchcock Children's Cancer Research, c/o Dorothy Annis, Treasurer, 85 Beech Hill Drive, Manchester 03103.
