                Cemantha Boyd and Henry Hogan Barnes: Their Immediate Family

Generation No. 1

 1.  Cemantha Boyd, daughter of Thomas Boyd and Susannah Smith, was born 23 August 1815 in Shelburne, Massachusetts, and died 10 October 1887 in Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.  She married Henry Hogan Barnes, adopted son of Gideon Barnes and Parmelia Unknown (adoption date and circumstances unknown).  He was born ca. 14 June 1812 in York Center, Livingston County, New York, and died 14 December 1876 in Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.

SEBASTIAN COUNTY, ARKANSAS
C.M. BARNES, general fire and life insurance agent, of Fort Smith, was born in Livingston County, N.Y., August 25, 1845.  His father was a son of Henry Hogan, who was paymaster in the United States army, and was lost at sea during the War of 1812, after which he was adopted by Gideon Barnes, and was known as Henry Hogan Barnes. He was married to SAMANTHA BOYD, a native of Massachusetts, where Mr. Barnes' ancestors had located prior to the Revolution. Mr. Barnes, the father of our subject, was a farmer and merchant by occupation.   C. M. Barnes grew to manhood in Calhoun County, Mich.  In 1876, he then located permanently in Fort Smith, where he became one of the leading citizens.

 3.  Lucian/Lucien Jerome Barnes, son of Henry Hogan Barnes and Cemantha Boyd, was born 2 September 1839 in Greigsville, Livingston County, New York, and died 18 June 1890 in Duluth, St. Louis, Minnesota.  He married Julia Matilda Hill 1862, daughter of Truman Hill and Sally Howland.  She was born March 1842 in New York, and died 21 January 1930 in Duluth, St. Louis, Minnesota.

 7 i. Henrietta Barnes, born ca. 20 April 1870.
 8 ii. Julius Howland Barnes, born 2 February 1873 in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas; died 17 April 1959 in Duluth, St. Louis, Minnesota.  He married Harriett C. Unknown ca. 1897 in Minnesota; born February 1874 in Minnesota.
 9 iii. Io B. Barnes, born October 1874 in Albion, Calhoun, Michigan.  She married Burton St. John.
 10 iv. Arthur Barnes, born August 1881.
 

 4.  Cassius McDonald Barnes, son of Henry Hogan Barnes and Cemantha Boyd, was born 25 August 1845 in Greigsville, Livingston County, New York, and died 18 February 1925 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  He married (1) Mary Elizabeth Bartlett 20 February 1869 in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas, daughter of Liberty Bartlett and Charlotte Penniman.  She was born 9 June 1845 in Williamstown, Berkshire County,  Massachusetts, and died 27 May 1908 in Guthrie, Logan, Oklahoma.  He married (2) Rebecca "Bertha" Cagle 10 August 1910 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of Mathew Cagle and Rebecca Bone.  She was born 11 November 1867 in Clarksville, Tennessee, and died 17 October 1941 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, New Mexico.

 11 i. Cassius Bartlett Barnes, born 1 January 1872 in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas; died 29 May 1942 in Manhassett, New York.  He married Lillian Elsie Noonan 16 October 1913 in Brooklyn, New York; born 20 July 1889 in Brooklyn, New York; died 4 May 1974 in Brentwood, New York.
 12 ii. Harry Cooper Barnes, born 19 February 1873 in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas; died 1943.  He married Zellica Maude McAllister 1894; died 1937.
 13 iii. Eliza Louise Barnes, born 18 March 1878 in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas; died 15 November 1965 in California.  She married Carl Rousseau Havighorst 31 December 1899 in Guthrie, Logan, Oklahoma; born 3 October 1876 in Ohio; died 15 November 1950 in California.
 14 iv. Clarence McDonald Barnes, born 2 October 1879 in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas; died 26 December 1882 in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas.

Child of Cassius Barnes and Rebecca Cagle is:
 15 i. Victor E. Barnes, born 7 November 1901 in Autwine, Oklahoma; died 1961 in San Francisco, California.  He married (1) Unknown Mero Bef. 1942.  He married (2) Norma McGee ca. 1947; died ca. 1997.

 5.  Julius Agustus Barnes, son of Henry Hogan Barnes and Cemantha Boyd, was born May 1847 in Livingston county, New York, and died 16 November 1924 in Duluth, St. Louis, Minnesota.  He married (1) Florence Ames Coit 21 April 1870 in Union County, Arkansas.  She died Bef. 1900.  He married (2) Sara Unknown ca. 1900.  She was born December 1885 in Indiana.

Children of Julius Barnes and Florence Coit are:
 16 i. Lucien A. Barnes, born January 1871 in Arkansas; died Aft. 1950.  He married Florence P. Unknown ca. 1900 in Minnesota; born September 1870 in Illinois.
 17 ii. Cora Lee Barnes, born 29 May 1872 in Eldorado, Arkansas; died November 1977 in O'Fallon, St. Clair, Illinois.  She married Cristy M. Porter; born 1870 in Illinois.
