THE NEW JERSEY HARRIS FAMILY

SARAH HARRIS, daughter of John Harris and Mary HAMILTON was
born 14 Jan 1785 in Essex County, New Jersey. She died 10 Feb
1856 in Mercer County, Ohio. She married 5 Oct 1802 Aaron
ROSS. He was baptised 1 Aug 1773 and died 18 July 1843 aged
sixty-eight years. Sarah Grew up in Washington County,
Pennsylvania where she met and married Mr. Ross. They settled
in Mercer County, PA., where they lived the rest of their
lives. Mr Ross was a farmer. Mrs. Ross survived her husband
over twelve years. She was a woman loved and respected in the
community where they lived. They were members of the Pres-
byterian Church. They were buried at Fairfield Church burial
grounds in New Vernon, Pennsylvania. They had thirteen
Children, all born in Mercer County, PA. Aaron's parents were
Jacob ROSS and Abigail ALLEN.

STEPHAN ROSS, son of Aaron Ross and Sarah Harris was born 29
Sept 1803 in Deer Creek Township, Mercer, PA. He married
Hannah SEISLEY (1) 5 June 1828 daughter of Samuel SEISLEY and
Elizabeth RHODES. They had seven children.

July 1803 in Mercer County, PA. He married Anna SEISLEY 27
May 1830 by whom he had eight children. Jacob died 1 Nov
1867.

HARVEY ROSS, son of Aaron Ross and Sarah Harris was born
6 Jan 1808 in Mercer County, PA. He married Caroline CUSTARD
in 1832, by whom he has had eight children. Harvey died 26
Sept 1855 and Caroline died 11 Nov 1854, both in Mercer
County. Their parents both dying young the children were all
scattered about. James lived somewhere in Illinois, Albert in
California, Sarah married and moved to Dallas, Texas and died
young. Richard went into the army and died young, being
buried in Missouri. Wilson went into the army, died young and
is buried in Virginia. Stephan lives in Arizona, Aaron died
young, and Emily married and lives near New Vernon, PA."

THE HARRIS FAMILY

MARY ROSS, daughter of Aaron Ross and Sarah Harris was born
27 Oct 1809 in Mercer County, PA. She married 3 June 1828
James LOGAN who was born 13 May 1801 in Crawford County, PA.
He was the son of Moses LOGAN and Martha ELLIOTT, and died 14
Mar 1885. Mary died 7 June 1843 and is buried in the Old
Sheakleyville Cemetery in Mercer County, PA. James may have
married, after the death of Mary 25 Feb 1847 Rhoda HEADLEY in
Warren County, Ohio. James and Mary had seven children, three
of whom died young.

JARED ROSS, son of Aaron Ross and Sarah Harris was born 5 Nov
1811 in Mercer County, PA. He married Martha CUSTARD 16 May
1833 by whom he had eleven children, four sons and seven
daughters. He was a farmer by occupation and made farming a
success. Mr. Ross died 21 Nov 1855 aged forty-four years
leaving a wife and ten children to mourn his untimely death.

HANNAH ROSS, daughter of Aaron Ross and Sarah Harris was
born 20 Oct 1815 in Mercer County, Ohio. She married Samuel
ROBERTS 18 April 1837 born in 1812 Perry County, PA., son of
Samuel ROBERTS and Martha PUGH. Hannah died 11 Dec 1855 in
Mercer County, aged forty years and two months. Samuel and
Hannah had eight children. Mr. Roberts married for his
second wife Isabell AMON in July 1863 and had five children.

JOHN SEYMOUR ROSS, son of John Ross and Louisa WETMORE was
born in Mercer County, PA. He married Nancy Maria FRISBEE 24
Sept 1867 by whom he has had one son. Mr. Ross was the editor
and printer of the "Mill Village Herald" a small newspaper of
the time. He also ran a hardware store. They lived at Mill
Village, Erie County, PA.

HARRIS A. ROSS, son of Jared Ross and Martha CUSTARD was born
in Mercer County, PA. He married Mary BISSELL 19 Nov 1856 by
whom he has had eleven children, the first dying in infancy.
Mr. Ross enlisted during the Civil War, in Company I, Fourth
Pennsylvania Calvary. He was in eight hard-fought battles,
and had many narrow escapes. He acted as orderly under
General Mead around Richmond. His eldest son was struck by
lighting and killed 19 Sept 1882.

15 April 1829 in Georgetown (now Sheakleyville), PA. He died
29 Jan 1908 in Cleveland, Ohio. He married 29 May 1854 Mary
Suzanne FIELDS who was born 4 Feb 1834 in St. John, New
Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of Robert FIELDS and
Mary Elizabeth De ELLS. She died 11 Jan 1916 in Cleveland.
James and Mary are buried at Riverside Cemetery, Cleveland.
They had five children.

LAURA MARIA ROBERTS, daughter of Samuel ROBERTS and Hannah
ROSS was born 27 Aug 1854 in Greenville, Mercer County, PA.
She married Henry GASE 26 Sept 1876 by whom she had three
children. Mr. Gase was a tanner by trade and they resided in
Michigan.

CORDELIA SPEARMAN LOGAN, daughter of Harvey LOGAN and Mary S.
FIELDS was born 10 Dec 1869 in Wheatland, Mercer County, PA
She married in Cleveland 21 June 1888 George MILLIKEN. He was
born in Sharon, Mercer County, PA., son of John MILLIKEN and
Caroline A. HEWITT. Cordelia died 5 Jan 1941 and both are
buried in Welshfield, Troy Township, Geauga County, OH.

CHARLES H. LOGAN, son of James H. LOGAN and Mary S. FIELDS
was born 4 Dec 1871 in Wheatland, PA. He married Margaret
Loretta LYNCH 19 Sept 1893 in Cleveland. She was born in Oct of
1874. Charles died 16 Sept 1956 and Margaret died 31 Dec
1949 both in Cleveland and both are buried in Holy Cross
Cemetery in Cleveland. They had two children.

Florence BUCK. He married second Viola McGHIE 23 Nov 1913 in
Cleveland. Robert and Ida had one son William Cassius Logan
aged 1 year in 1880 census, Sharpsville, PA. William C. and
Eleanore Foley had a daughter, Eleanore F. Logan born ca.
1907. Eleanore's parents were James E. FOLEY and Mary E.
LENTZ. Etta's parents were William H. LEPLEY and Lizzie
MUSSER of Marshallville, Ohio.

MARY ELIZABETH LOGAN, daughter of Harvey LOGAN and Mary S.
FIELDS was born 13 Sept 1856 in Amboy, Illinois. She married
first William HAZEN born 1853 by whom she had one son. She
married second Dr. Leonard CHARLTON 24 April 1894. Mary died
27 July 1937 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery in
Sharpsville. PA.

AGNES HELEN LOGAN, daughter of Harvey LOGAN and Mary S.
FIELDS was born 28 Jan 1861 in Cleveland, Ohio. She married
Thomas C. HULL in Sharpsville, PA., 24 Nov 1880. He was
born 7 March 1854 son of Lewis HULL and Cynthia McFARLAND.
Agnes died 4 July 1940 and Thomas died 23 Dec 1900 both in
Cleveland, Ohio. They are buried in the Riverside Cemetery in
Cleveland. They had three children.

Gertrude's parents 28 Jan 1914. His birth name was John J.
ADAMIJICK but he used his mother's maiden name JUERGENSEN.
He was born 19 Feb 1894 in Hungary. John's mother's name was
Anna JUERGENSEN. John had been married previously to
Elizabeth GEARIETY. Gertrude died 8 Nov 1981 in Michigan and
John died 27 Feb 1954 in Lakewood, Ohio. They had a son.

LOGAN MILLIKEN, son of John J. MILLIKEN and Gertrude E.
MILLIKEN was born 6 July _____? He married first Patricia Ann
HOLMAN 30 Jan 1948 in London, Ohio. They were divorced in

HAZEL AGNES LOGAN, daughter of Charles H. LOGAN and Margaret
L. LYNCH was born 11 July 1897 in Cleveland, Ohio. She
married Patrick MALLOY 14 Sept 1914. He was born 9 Feb 1895
son of John MALLOY and Katherine BERRY. Patrick died in
November 1967, in Cleveland, and Hazel is still living as of
this writing April, 1991. They had one child.

GEORGENE SUE HULL, daughter of Thomas C. HULL and Agnes H.
LOGAN was born 8 July 1887 in Cleveland, Ohio. She married
Howard Charles BLACKMUR 31 Dec 1908 in Cleveland. Howard was
born 8 July 1887 in Cleveland son of Charles BLACKMUR and
Cora I. VAUGHN. Georgene died 12 May 1982 and Howard died 13
Mar 1970 both in Cleveland. Both are buried in the Williams
Cemetery in Leroy Township, Lake County, Ohio. They had one
daughter.

THE HARRIS FAMILY

Berta-Mae graduated from Hiram College in 1940 and earned a
degree in Library Science from Western Reserve University in
1941. Her working years were spent in branches of the
Cleveland Public Library. Since retirement she spends a
considerable amount of time working on genealogical research
and volunteers at the History Library of the Western Reserve
Historical Society. She was twice regent of the New
Connecticut Chapter, DAR, president of Hendrick Meese Vrooman
Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century, 1991, and vice president
of Commodore Perry Chapter, U.S. daughters of 1812., Ohio
Court (women descendants) Ancient and Honorable Company of
Boston.

ROBERT WILLIAM HULL, son of Thomas C. HULL and Agnes H. LOGAN
was born 3 Dec 1889 in Cleveland, Ohio. He married 22 July
1911 May Anna HAMILTON. She was born 15 Oct 1890 daughter of
Edward HAMILTON and Jane GORE. Robert died 29 May 1944, in
Cleveland and May died 17 Sept 1974 in Medina, Ohio. Both are
buried in the Granger Fairview Cemetery in Medina County,
Ohio. They had two children.

JOHN HARRIS JR., son of John HARRIS and Mary HAMILTON was
born 14 Jan 1785 in Essex County, New Jersey. When an infant
his parents moved to the wilds of Pennsylvania and settled in
Washington County. He was a man of many marked character-
istics, and a man of stalwart frame of over six feet tall,
and a commanding presence. He maintained a leading position
at the bar of Northern Ohio. He was a member of the House of
Representives from Dec 4, 1815, to Dec 2, 1816. He was County
Auditor of Wayne County, Ohio. He filed his bond and entered
upon his duties June 6, 1835. He was also Recorder of the
Town of Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio.

"The first school house in Stark County was built of logs, seven feet
high in section twelve of Canton Township. It had a clapboard roof and a
puncheon floor. For windows small holes were cut in the logs and covered
with greased paper in place of glass. The first teacher was John Harris
who later gained prominence as a lawyer in Canton." Canton County History

He married for his first wife, Anna CHIDESTER, who died and
left him with one child, a daughter, who died when about
twelve years of age. He married for his second wife Rebekah
RAYNOLDS 21 October 1819 by whom he had eight children. Mr
Harris survived nearly all of his family, dying in Omaha,
Nebraska 15 Oct 1863. He is buried in Canton, Stark
County, Ohio. His wife Rebekah died 27 Nov 1853.
