PHILANDER MORGAN,  son  of Reese MORGAN and Rebecca A. REEDER
was  born  11 Oct 1835 in La Salle County, Illinois. He lived on a farm north of Streator, Illinois,  with his parents. The Morgan  family  was  founded  in  America  in  1624  by three brothers,  natives  of  Wales, who first settled in Virginia. Later one went to the  Carolinas and another to Kentucky. The great-great-grandfather of Philander remained in Virginia and founded  the  village  of Morgantown. He was a soldier of the Revolutionary  war.  Philander's grandfather, William Morgan,
located  in  Pennsylvania  for  a time and finally settled in Illinois,  north of Streator. His father, Reese Morgan fought in the Black hawk war.

Philander  obtained  his education in the schools of the day.  When he was sixteen  he went with his father to California to prospect for gold. They  returned  in 1855.  In 1860 he moved to Livingston County, Illinois,  where his  father had a farm of eight hundred acres in what  is now  Fayette Township.  He assisted his  father in  farming  the  land and  continued on the property  after  his  parents  deaths. He also owned some property  in  Gibson, Illinois,  and  owned a large amount of
farm land in Iowa.

He served as Supervisor of Fayette township for one term, was assessor  eighteen years and was highway commissioner for the same period.  He  laid  out all the roads in the township and gave it the name of Fayette. His sister Mary was the first to be  married  in  the  new township. Mr. Morgan saw almost the entire  development  of  the  region. He was a member of the village  board  for  many years and president of same for ten years. He never married. [The Biographical Record of
Livingston County, Illinois, 1900]

OLIVER REEDER,  son of Jacob REEDER and Elizabeth J. LORD was
born  15 Dec 1837  in  Eagle  township,  La Salle County, IL.  He  married  Julia COCHRAN  daughter  of  Jacob  COCHRAN and Priscilla FEAZEL.   She  was  born  3  June  1841 near Lacon, Marshall County, Illinois.

"Oliver Reeder represents one of the oldest families in La Salle County. His paternal grandparents were David and Sarah Whitaker Reeder, who came to Illinois in 1828 and settled near Pekin in Tazewell county.  David Reeder and his family moved to La Salle county in the spring of 1833. David Reeder was one of the first county commissioners and served as justice of the peace. Jacob Reeder, son of David Reeder and
father of Oliver Reeder was born in Hamilton county, Ohio in 1815 and was married in Ottawa in 1836 to Jane LORD who was born near Cincinnati, Ohio in November of 1822. In 1840 Jacob Reeder and his brother, Joseph, removed to Green county, Wisconsin where they farmed. Jacob returned to La Salle county in 1948 where he lived the balance of his life. He died 14 August 1896 while his wife lived until March, 1902".
