DAVIS and Hannah YOUNG was born John enlisted, at the outbreak of the Civil War, 2 Aug 1862, in Company K, Twenty-third Regiment of Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, at Harrisburg, Sauk County, Wisconsin. He was mustered into the United States Service, 30 Aug 1862, at Camp Randall, Madison, and left the State September 15, 1862, for active service. He participated in some thirteen or fourteen battles, and at the close of the war was honorably discharged. After his marriage he emigrated to Missouri where he lived a few years and then returned to Wisconsin. He bought a farm in Troy Township, Sauk County, where he lived out his life. 1. b. 11 Aug 1849 d. at 9 yrs. ABIGAIL YOUNG, daughter of Aaron YOUNG and Mary MITCHELL was born 12 April 1824 in Richland County, Ohio. She married John BEAR 5 Aug 1848 by whom she had three children. Mr. and Mrs. Bear resided in Ohio until the fall of 1849, when they emigrated to Sauk County, Wisconsin. He purchased a saw mill, which he carried on for some years, then sold it and bought a farm which he carried on until his death, he dying 21 Dec 1862. He was buried in the Harrisburg Cemetery beside two of his children. Mrs. Bear remained a widow until October 10, 1881, when she married William CLARRIAGE for her second husband. They lived in Tazewell, Putnam (now Marshall) County, Illinois, before moving to La Salle County, Illinois. He served in the Black Hawk War. He built the first frame house in Pekin, in 1832. He lived in Lacon, Marshall County, where he built the first frame home and assisted in laying out the town. In La Salle County, he bought a claim on the Vermilion River and remained on it for two years. He moved to Troy Grove where he set up a blacksmith shop. James Newton married three more times before his death. Wealthy Ann (JOHNSTON) WIXOM 10 May 1860 Sarah E. WHEATLEY 4 Apr 1867 and Priscilla C. McLAUGHLIN. REEDER, son
of David REEDER and Sarah WHITAKER was He married Margaret LINDLEY 25 July 1835 in Pekin. That year he moved to La Salle County and improved a fine farm; in 1840, he removed to Greene County, Wisconsin, while it was yet a territory, and improved a farm and remained there until 1856, when he returned to La Salle County, where he remained until 1875. He then purchased a fine farm and home containing 120 acres of land in Section 8 of Owego township where he remained the balance of his life. His first wife Margaret was born in Salem, Indiana in 1816, and died in November 1855. They had four children. In 1859 he married Mrs. Clarissa A. HARRIS who died in 1868. In November 1869 he married the widow of Dr. A. GILBERT of Homer, La Salle County, Illinois. Mr. Reeder saw very much of border pioneer life, coming into the state among the very first. In 1832 he was in the Blackhawk War, and participated in one serious engagement. His pioneer history would of itself make an interesting book. He had a fine farm, and a beautiful home. He was a very successful farmer and a liberal supporter of benevolent institutions and institutions of learning. 1. Rebecca
Reeder
b. 1837 Source: REBECCA A. REEDER, daughter of David REEDER and Sarah WHITAKER was born 5 Apr 1813 in Illinois. She married Reese MORGAN 5 May 1833 in Livingston County, Illinois. He was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania 25 Oct 1808. Rebecca died 21 May 1895 and Reese died 8 Mar 1878. Both are buried in Gibson City Cemetery. Reese Morgan came to Pekin, Livingston County, Illinois in 1828. He enlisted as a private in the Blackhawk War. He was in Stillman's defeat and remained in the service until hostilities ceased, being discharged at Ottawa in 1832. He spent one year at his old home in Pennsylvania, and at the end of that time returned to Illinois, where he soon afterward married Rebecca A. Reeder. After
their marriage
they lived in Pekin for a time, and in 1833 moved
to
La Salle County, where he engaged in the
sawmill
business
and in farming. He served as
county treasurer
and assessor
from
1848 to 1852. In the latter year he and
his
son Philander crossed the plains to California with ox
teams
and spent three years prospecting and mining, returning to Illinois
in 1855.

obtained
his education in the schools of the day. When he was
sixteen
he went with his father to California to prospect for gold.
They
returned in 1855. In 1860 he moved to Livingston County,
Illinois,
where his father had a farm of eight hundred acres
in
what is now Fayette Township. He assisted his
father
in farming the land and continued on
the property
after
his parents deaths. He also owned some property
in Gibson,
Illinois, and owned a large amount of He served as
Supervisor of
Fayette township for one term, was assessor eighteen years
and was highway commissioner for the same period.
He
laid out all the roads in the township and gave it the name of
Fayette.
His sister Mary was the first to be married
in
the new township. Mr. Morgan saw almost the entire
development
of the region. He was a member of the village
board
for many years and president of same for ten years. He never
married. [The

REEDER, son of
Jacob REEDER and Elizabeth J. LORD was "Oliver Reeder
represents one
of the oldest families in La Salle County. His
paternal
grandparents were David and Sarah Whitaker Reeder, who
came
to Illinois in 1828 and settled near Pekin in Tazewell
county.
David Reeder and his family moved to La Salle
county in
the
spring of 1833. David Reeder was one of the first
county
commissioners and served as justice of the peace.
