Grace Ruth (Boyd) Sherman

Hinsdale, NH-- Grace Ruth (Boyd) Sherman, 80,
of Brattleboro Road, died Thursday night at Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend, Vermont.

She was born in Wilmington Vermont, on April 17, 1912, the daughter of Fred Wesley and Maud (Upton) Boyd.  She was raised in Wilmington, attended local schools and was a graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1930.  Following high school she attended North Adams Normal School, North Adams, MA, graduating with a degree in elementary education.

Mrs. Sherman taught in a one room schoolhouse in East Dover, VT.  She was also a substitute teacher for the Hinsdale, NH school system.
For 16 years she was employed by Holstein- Friesian Association, retiring in 1977.

On November 18, 1937 in Wilmington, she married Harold E. Sherman who survives.  Besides her husband of 54 years, she is survived by one son, Clarence Sherman of West Willington, CT; three daughters, Irene Buzby and Barbara Krause, both of Brattleboro, and Nancy Omasta of Windsor, CT; twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Verne and Donald Boyd.

Burial will be in the family lot in Riverview Cemetry in Wilmington, VT.
