                Rev. Harry A. Schultz

Rev. Harry A. Schultz, 102, Alpena passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at Medilodge of Hillman.

Rev. Schultz was born November 3, 1901 in Moltke Township in Presque Isle County to Charles and Augusta Schultz, one of eight children.

He attended Wartburg Academy and College in Clinton, Iowa, graduating in 1924.  He graduated from Wartburg Seminary in Dubuquem Iowa in 1927.

On August 31, 1927 he married Lydia Wimmer at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa.  She preceded him in death on April 6, 1989.

During his fulltime ministry he served congregations in Ida and Readlyn, Iowa, Herron-Hubbard Lake, Saginaw-Bridgeport, and following his reirement, Rogers City-Ocqueoc, and St. James at Moltke.  He retired in 1967. 

During his retirement he served all eighteen congregations of the Northland Conference of the American Lutheran Church ((ELCA) either on a substitute or interim basis, including six congregations of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

Upon retiring, he moved to Alpena.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

He is survived by a son, the Rev. Charles G. (Marlys) Schultz of Rogers City, four grand- children Christian and Andrew Schultz and Rebecca and John Ebach; and one sister, Elenore (Mrs. Arnold) Karsten of Rogers City.

He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and four sisters.

Interment was at Grace Lutheran Cemetery
