                                 PROMINENT MAN DEAD

         Warren Boyd one of our Oldest and Wealthiest Townsman

Warren Boyd, passed quietly from this world last Sunday morning at the advanced age of 81 years from heart failure after a brief sickness. Warren Boyd comes from good old Wilmington stock. He was born in Wilmington 81 years ago and has lived in Wilmington his entire life. Furthermore his father (Robert) was born in Wilmington and died in Wilmington and his grandfather (Abraham) came to Wilmington and located as a young man one of the first and spent the remainder of his life here. Robert was born in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

Unlike the majority of the young men of today Warren was not lured away by the charms of the city. He was contented to live right in his native town, and by his integrity and keen business ability as a farmer and country merchant succeeded in building up a fortune.  At his death Mr. Boyd was unquestionably the richest man in the  town of Wilmington, his wealth being estimated to range from $40,000 to $50,000.

Abram (Abraham)  grandfather to Warren Boyd  was one of the first five who settled in Wilmington. He reared six children on his farm, one of which was Robert Boyd. Abraham was a soldier of the Revolutionary War and participated in the battles of Bunker Hill and Bennington.

Abraham Boyd died a poor man and his son Robert started this life without the aid of riches. By his own energy Robert accumilated a comfortable fortune and raised seven children as follows, James Manning, Abram, Warren, Stephen, Lucinda (Mrs. Jacab Chase), Lorinda (Mrs. Luther Harrington) and Jullian (Mrs. Lewis Harrington. Of this circle of seven Warren was the last to go.

Warren Boyd married Miss Ruth Haynes of Sudbury, Mass. who died November 19, 1883 at the age of 73 years. Only son Oscar Boyd was the result of the union , who now survives and who will fall heir to his father's fortune.

The funeral was held Tuesday from the late residence, Rev. W.A. Estabrook officating and the body was interred in the village cemete
