                         OBITUARY

Alfred Westbrook was born in Faulkwere (Fauquier
County, Virginia 1813 and died in Licking County, OH
October 20, 1887, aged 73 years, 10 months, and seven days.  Father Westbrook emigrated to Ohio in the year 1829.  He was married to Sarah Wise in the year 1836.
She preceded him to the Spirit realm some years past.
This union of hearts was blessed with 14 children of whom nine survive him, three daughters and six sons, forty-two grandchildren and four great grand- children.  Father Westbrook was married the 2nd time  about 2 years past.  He leaves a widow and these children with many relatives and friends to mourn his
departure, but not without hope.

As a man Father Westbrook was honest and upright, he went in and out before his family, with such kindness, sincerity and piety as to leave an example worthy of their imitation.  About 49 years ago he was converted and gave his hand to the M.E. Church in which he continued until he went to the Church Triumphant.  This aged father was not disturbed in reference to the future.  He has been long waiting the coming of the chariot to bear him away to his immortal home.  The funeral services were held at his late residence in Newton township, Licking County, Ohio.  Rev. J.W. Edwards of the United Brethern Church officiating after which the remains were taken to Washington County, this state by his son L.J. Westbrook and others of the family.  For the benefit of relatives and friends of that county they had a funeral sermon preached by the Rev. Floyd of the M.E. Church after which the remains were interred by the side of his first com- panion (Sarah Wise) there to await the resurection morn.
