MRS. LOTTIE FRANCES (BRUBAKER) HOOVER

Wife of Charles Hoover of Duncansville, R. D. No. 1, died at her home at 4:45 o'clock Monday afternoon. She was born in Carson Valley on Feb. 25, 1886, a daughter of John and Amanda (Clowns) [really Plowman] Brubaker. Surviving are her husband, eight sons and daughters, Loris of Philadelphia, Mrs. Orville Metzker of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Earl Cochrane of near Duncansville, Ralph E. of Duncansville, Homer S. of Williamsburg, R. D., Betty Jane, Leroy and Delbert, all at home; ten grandchildren, three brothers and one sister, D. C. and Allan Brubaker and Mrs. Elsie Irvin, all of Altoona and Daniel C. Brubaker of Cross Keys. Mrs. Hoover was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren where she had held the office of deaconess for a number of years. Funeral services were conducted in the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren this afternoon in charge of the Rev. D. I. Pepple of Woodbury. Interment was made in the Carson Valley Cemetery.

     He was also known as Peter Cochren. He was also known as Peter Franklin Cochrane. He resided at at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1850. He began military service on 3-Jul-1863; Enlisted in Co. H, 110th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. Enlisted in Co. B. McKeage's Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment on 3-Jul-1863. He ended military service on 28-Jun-1865; Mustered out of Co. B., Mckeages Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. He was also known as Peter Cochran. He resided at at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1900. He resided at at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1910. He a Catholic.

Peter Cochran, a farmer and leading citizen of Allegheny Township, Blair County, Pa., residing on his valuable farm of 160 acres, which he devotes to general agriculture, was born in this township , August 29, 1847, and is a son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Hetrick) Cochran. The parents of Mr. Cochran were both born in Blair County, their parents having been among the early Scotch-Irish settlers in this section. Joseph Cochran was a farmer. Five of his family children survived, and all live in Blair County. Jeremiah is a farmer in Allegheny Township. Mary is the widow of Mose Crum and lives in Altoona. Martha M. is the widow of James McCoy and resides in Allegheny Township. Peter and Joseph also residents of Allegheny Township.

Peter Cochran was reared in his native township, attended the district schools and then began to cultivation of the home farm. In June , 1863, he enlisted for service in the Civil War, entering Co. H, 110th Pa. Vol. Inf., which become part of the Army of the Potomac. Mr. Cochran proved a brave and efficient soldier, never hesitating in the face of certain danger and took part in some of the hardest contested battles of the great war, He was in the long struggle of the Wilderness, and was in all the engagements from there to Hatcher's Run, in which battle he was wounded in the right leg, on Oct 27, 1864. This was the second injury, and on account of it he was confined in a hospital in Washington, D. B., until May, 1865, when he returned to his regiment And served until he was honorably discharged in the following month. He returned to Blair County and has remained here ever since, proving himself a valuable citizen of his county in time of peace as well as in war. He is identified with the G. A. R. Post at Duncansville, And is senior vice Commander of the same.

On September 18 1873, Mr. Cochran was married to Miss Margaret Ott, who was born in Greenfield Township, Blair County, a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Ott, the former of whom is deceased. Mrs. Ott has passed her seventy-fifth birthday and still resides in Blair County. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Cochran, six of whom are living, as follows: Clara E., who is the wife of John Reep, of Allegheny Township; Sadie, who is the wife of John Krouse, of Altoona; Elinas W., who resident of Frankstown Township; Joseph T., who lives at South Altoona; Peter A., who lives in Frankstown Township; and Stella, who is the wife of Blaine Brubaker, of Allegheny Township. Those deceased were: David, William and Mary.

In politics Mr. Cochran is a Democrat. For twelve years he has been a member of the township school board and for four years its treasurer. He is identified with the Grange, Patrons of Husbandry, at Duncansville.

A native of Blair County, Pa., was born Aug. 29, 1847, of parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Hetrick) Cochran, deceased. He was united in the bounds of matrimony Sept. 18, 1874, in Altoona, Pa., to Margaret Ott. She was born in the county Feb, 14, 1853; her father, Joseph Ott, is deceased, but her mother, Elizabeth (Bodley), is still living. As fruit of the marriage the following children have been born: Clara E., Sarah J., David, dec., William, dec., Mary Catherine, dec., Elinas W., Joseph T., Peter A., and Stella J. Comrade Cochran was but 16 years old when he began preparation for active participation in the late war. He was enrolled from Hollidaysburg, Pa., as a private in Co. H, 110th Pa. V. I., which did duty with 1st Brig., 3rd Div., 2d A. C. Oct. 27, 1864, He was wounded at the battle of Hatchers Run in the right leg by gunshot, in consequence, he was taken to hospital at City Point ten days, thence to Columbiana College hospital, Washington, for five moths. Nov 28, 1864, he was granted a furlough of thirty days and returned to duty at expiration of time. He was an active participant in the battles of Wilderness(3 days), Spottsylvania, Po River, North Anna River, Cold Harbor, Milford Bridge, Taylors Bridge, Petersburg June 16, 18 and 22, Deep Bottom twice, Cane Creek and Hatchers Run. He was granted an honorable discharge June 26, 1865 at Arlington Heights, Va. His Brothers, Jeremiah and William, were members of Pa. Regts., his wife's father served in the late Civil War. Comrade Cochran has been a School director; he is a member of Gibbony Post, No. 465; he follows farming as an avocation and his address is Duncansville, Pa.

Rosann married Marshall Alexander Plowman, son of William G. Plowman and Frances Wilt, circa 1871. Rosann Cochran was baptized on 25-Feb-1894 at Duncansville Evangelical Lutherern, Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania. She died on 28-Oct-1917 at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 67; Typhoid Fever.
     She was also known as Rose Cochran. She was also known as Rose Ann Cochran. She was also known as Roseana Cochran.

      Jesse Allen Brubaker was born on 17-Feb-1895 at Carson Valley, Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Brubaker and Amanda Elizabeth Plowman. Jesse married Catherine Alexander circa 1915. Jesse married Susan E. Corrigan, daughter of Mary E. (Unknown), at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania. Jesse Allen Brubaker died on 28-May-1987 at Lake Wales, Nalcrest, Polk County, Florida, at age 92.
     He was also known as Allen J. Brubaker. He resided at at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1900. He resided at at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1910. He began military service between 1917 and 1918; WW I Draft Card Signed.

      Willis E. Brubaker was born in 1901 at Logan Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William Brubaker and Carrie B. (Unknown). Willis E. Brubaker died on 3-Sep-1985.
     He was also known as William E. Brubaker.

      Ralph Emery Hoover Sr. was born on 12-May-1915 at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Charles Wilford Hoover and Lottie Frances Brubaker. Ralph married Josephine or Hazel M. Dempsey, daughter of Harry Edward Dempsey and Leah Katherine Dixon. Ralph Emery Hoover Sr. died on 21-Dec-1997 at Carson Valley, Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 82. He died on 21-Dec-1997 at Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 82. Ralph was buried at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania.
     He resided at at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1920. He resided at at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1930.

      Homer Franklin Hoover Sr was born on 24-Jul-1911 at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Charles Wilford Hoover and Lottie Frances Brubaker. Homer Franklin Hoover Sr died on 13-Aug-1966 at Carson Valley, Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 55; Leakemia. Homer was buried at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania.

      Elva Mae Hoover was born on 2-Aug-1906 at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Charles Wilford Hoover and Lottie Frances Brubaker. Elva Mae Hoover died on 26-Sep-1998 at Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, at age 92.
     She was also known as Elda Hoover.

      Loris Allen Hoover was born on 5-Jan-1904 at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Charles Wilford Hoover and Lottie Frances Brubaker. Loris married Margaret Lorraine Carberry, daughter of Andrew E. Carberry and Fannie M. Benner, in 1923 at Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Loris Allen Hoover died on 14-Oct-1972 at Silver Spring, Montgomery County, Maryland, at age 68.
     He was also known as Louis Hoover. He resided at at Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1920.

      Pansy May Cochrane was born on 17-May-1893 at Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Harry E. Cochrane and Clara Elizabeth Yon. Pansy May Cochrane was baptized on 17-Feb-1894 at Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Pansy married Ira Sylvester Leidy, son of Daniel D. Leidy and Kathryn Gaul, circa 1921. Pansy May Cochrane died on 2-Oct-1958 at Lakemont, Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 65. Pansy was buried at Grandview Cemetery.
     She was also known as Panzie May Cochrane. She resided at at Burgoon Road, Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1920.

      Martha M. Taylor was born on 15-Jan-1898 at Winber, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of David Benjamin Taylor and Mary Alice Closson. Martha married Clarence Edgar Edward Eckard, son of Samuel David Eckard and Lucy Laura London, at Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Martha M. Taylor died on 12-Jun-1975 at Mercy Hospital, Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 77. Martha was buried at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania.
     

Martha M. Eckard of 3010 Spruce Ave., died at 10:15 a.m. yesterday, June 12,1975, al Mercy Hospital, where she was admitted May 5, after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1898, in Windber, a daughter of David B. and Alice Mary (Closson) Taylor, and married Clarence Eckard, who died March 3, 1972. Surviving are three children, David D. and Mrs. Alberta Vaughn of Altoona and George S. of Lisbon, Ohio; 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Violet Zunigo of Cabot, David A. of Canton Ohio, and J. A., in Florida. Mrs Eckard was a member, of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received, in Stevens Mortuary from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
