Fred Bennett, 87
Fred Bennett, 87, of Onego, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
Mr. Bennett was born June 5, 1916, in Onego and was the son of the late John W. Bennett and Effie Alice (Davis) Bennett.
He was a farmer and a custodian for McCall's Printing Company in Bowie, MD. He was a lifelong member of the Seneca United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mildred (Bennett) Bennett; three sons, John H. Bennett of White Marsh, MD, Larry R. "Rick" Bennett of Bear, DE, and George Wayne Bennett of Seneca Rocks; a daughter, Loretha K. Humphrey of Daytona Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Burrel Bennett, Harley Bennett and Estel Bennett; six sisters, Lena Mallow, Alta Harper, Flossie Raines, Lona White, Nida Ketterman and Kate Davis.
Mr. Bennett was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Pastors Barbara Rexroad and Rebecca Bennett conducted the funeral 1 p.m. Wednesday at Seneca United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Bennett Family Cemetery in Onego.

Foster E. Bennett Sr., 68
Foster Elwood Bennett Sr., 68, of Seneca Rocks, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 as a result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Bennett was born June 22, 1934, in Onego and was a son of the late Estel Bennett and Iva Dolly Bennett.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Dolly Bennett of Gaithersburg, MD; two sons, Paul Dolly and Charles Bennett, both of Damascus, MD; three daughters, Lois Bennett and Linda Bennett, both of Gaithersburg, MD, and Loretta Cooley of Damascus, MD; four sisters, Vallie Kisamore of Cabins, Merle Sites, a resident of Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, Shirley Flohr of Augusta, and Josie Payne of Fredicksburg, MD; three brothers, Clifford Bennett of Maysville, Chester Bennett of Onego and Paul Bennett of Monrovia, MD; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Pastor Tommy George conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, Interment was at the Bennett family cemetery in Onego.
