DISTRIBUTION OF CORSER IN
AUSTRALIA - 1997
The first Corser family to emigrate from England to Australia
were
originally
from South Shropshire, and settled in Queensland
in 1863. They were followed by another south Shropshire family who were
established in Western Australia by 1894. A third Corser family,
from Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire, emigrated to the
Melbourne
area in 1913. The present day situation broadly reflects this
pattern of immigration with high numbers of Corsers in
Queensland,
Victoria and Western Australia. There are no occurrences in
Tasmania. |
