MacCosker, MacCusker. These names are probably Irish, the second form being found in Glasgow. Ir. Mac Oscair, 'son of Oscar,' or of the 'champion.' Ir. Oscar, the personal name, also meaning 'a champion.' MacCoskrie, MacCoskery, MacCoskry. G. Mac Chosgrach, 'son of Coscrach' or 'Coscarach' (victorious, from coscur, victory). The name appears in the Book of Deer in the genitive as Cosgreg. MacCoskerie, Macoscrie, M'Coscrich, M'Coskrie, McCorsquey, McCroscre, McCroscrie, McCroskrie, McKorscra, McKoscry.
