It seems the original document was prepared in 1959 and the research carried out prior to that date.

Raynolds Coxhead of Hungerford in Berkshire was buried there on 6th June 1620. He was educated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford and matriculated on 8th November 1588 at the age of 13. He had six children as follows :
(1) Raynolds. Baptised at Hungerford on 9th September 1610. Buried there in 1658. Elizabeth his wife was buried at Hungerford on 23rd May 1653. Raynold's Will, was dated 5th Dec 1650 and proved in the Preregative Court of Canterbury on the 6th Dec 1660. In his Will he is described as being a ''Husbandman''. His Christian name was variously spelt -- Raynolds, Rennold, and Reignold. There were seven children by the marriage as follows:-
(A) Raynold. Baptised at Hungerford on 19th Nov. 1643. Buried there on 21st July 1644.
(2) Matilde. Baptised at Hungerford on 9th February 1611.
(3) John '1' Baptised at Hungerford on 24th April 1614. Married to Elizabeth Night at Hungerford on 29th May 1642. He was an Executer of Raynold's Will in 1650. He was Constable of Hungerford in 1658, and he is mentioned in the Churchwarden's Accounts, as being Constable on the 9th April 1659. The position of Constable of Hungerford is an important one, and is similar in some ways to the Mayor of a Borough. The Office dates back to very ancient times , and was probably much the same as the post of Portreeve in other towns. The ''Victoria History of Berkshire'', Vol. 4, page 185 states that the chief man of the town of Hungerford was the Constable, ''who executed the Office of Coroner, feedary, escheator, and clerk of the market'' John Coxhead was among those who signed the Churchwarden's Accounts on 29th March 1660 and also in 1661 and 1662. According to the following extracts from the Churchwarden's Accounts he was a Church Warden in 1662 and 1663 :-
(A) ''Disbursements to passengers laid forth by John Coxhead being Churchwarden for ye years of the Lord God 1662''.

(A) Robert of Sanden Fee, Yeoman. Baptised at Hungerford on 20th Dec. 1674. He was buried at Hungerford on 16th Oct. 1750. His Will was drawn on 16th January 1748 and proved 7th Dec. 1750. In his Will he mentions his cousins John Coxhead of Charnham Street, a 'tanner', and John Coxhead of Sandon Fee.
(B) William. Baptised at Hungerford on 30th April 1682. Married to Martha Warman at Wantage on 16th May 1705
(3) Jonathan. 'Yeoman'. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1688. He was among those who signed a Declaration in he Churchwarden's Accounts dated 28th February 1698/99. His own Will was dated 2nd May 1715 and proved in Prerogative Court of Canterbury on 12th February 1718. He had three sons, Richard, Jonathan, (who was Constable of Hungerford in 1724) and Robert. (Jonathan and Robert were mentioned in their father's Will in 1715. Jonathan was among those who signed the Churchwardens Accounts on 27th March 1722, 11th April 1732, and 8th April 1735. Richard signed the Accounts on 27th March 1722, 16th April 1723, and 24th April 1739.
(4) William. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1688. His own Will was dated 27th July 1711 and proved 29th July 1711. He is described as being ''of Charnham Street, Hungerford''. His wife Elisabeth was an Executrix of his Will. There were nine children as follows :-
(A) Joseph. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1711 and in his cousin Robert's Will in 1748. He was among those who signed the Churchwarden's Accounts on 22nd April 1712. He married Ann Tanner / Turner. There were four children as follows:-
(a) Benjamin. Baptised at Hungerford on 6th Aug 1717.
(B) William. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1711. He was among those who signed the Churchwarden's Accounts on April 1718. Buried at Hungerford on 30th Nov. 1725. His Will was drawn on 25th Nov 1725 and proved in 1726. His wife Elizabeth was mentioned in Robert's Will of 1748. There were six children as follows :-
(a) William. (Baptised at Hungerford on 10th Oct 1711 from IGI)
(C) Richard. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1711 and also in his cousin Robert's Will in 1748
(D) Thomas. Baptised at Hungerford on 24th March 1692. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1711. He was among those who signed the Churchwarden's Accounts on 27th March 1722, 20th April 1731 and 27th April 1736. (Likely my 5xgrandfather)
(F) Benjamin of Sandon Fee. Baptised at Hungerford on 26th Dec 1696. Mentioned in his father's Will 1711 and his cousin Robert's Will in 1748. His own Will was dated 14th July 1756 and proved at Prerogative Court of Canterbury on 17th Jan 1767. Mentions the freehold messuage left to him by his cousin Robert Coxhead of Sanden Fee, 'Yeoman' and the three freehold messuages in Sanden Fee which he purchased from Edward Young Esq. Mentions his wife Martha. (updated info 1-11-1999, found in H-ford Parish Records : - Benjamin Coxhead of Hungerford married Martha Dunn of Wanborough Wilts, (near Swindon) on 2-2-1752) There were two children as follows :-

(a) William. 'Cabinet maker' Mentioned in his father's Will in 1756. He was among those who signed the Churchwarden's Accounts on 7th April 1760, and 2nd April 1771. Was Constable of Hungerford in 1786. His Will was dated 26th Jan 1787, and proved in the Court of the Dean & Canons of Windsor on 12th April 1794. He left everything to his wife Elizabeth who was appointed sole Executrix. He died on 2nd of Jan 1788. After William's death his wifemarried John Bannister who had been one of the witnesses of Benjamin Coxhead's Will in 1756. Elizabeth's Will was dated 22nd April 1785, and proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on the 28th of May 1794. She left her messuage at Hungerford to her son William Coxhead who was appointed executer.
(b) John. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1756 (exec). He was appointed one of the Overseers of the Poor for Sandon Fee on 21st April 1767. He is described in the Churchwarden's Accounts as being a 'Baker'
(G) Jonathan. Mentioned in his father's Will 1711 and his cousin Robert's Will in 1748.
(H) Ann. Baptised at Hungerford 27th Jan 1692. Mentioned in her father's Will in 1711 and her cousin Robert's Will in 1748.
(I) Elizabeth. Baptised at Hungerford on 2nd Dec 1702. Mentioned in her father's Will and her cousin Robert's Will in 1748.
(5) Ann. Baptised at Hungerford on 7th Nov 1645 and buried there on 30th Nov 1645
John Coxhead '2' was baptised at Hungerford on 31st May 1640. He held the post of County Court Bailiff for several years, and the following extract from ''The Story of Hungerford in Berkshire'', shows that he was fined in the year 1682 for trying to usurp the powers of the ''Three--weeken Court'' of Hungerford. This ancient court is described by Rev. W.H. Summers as "....... a Court Baron, which had jurisdiction in cases of debts under 40/-., operating by distraints. It was held before the Steward and two free suitors. This Court was discontinued in 1799 owing to the distress it caused, which had the effect of driving the poor to seek parish relief. While it lasted, its prerogatives were jealously guarded, and in 1682 John Coxhead, County Court Bailiff, had to pay 6d damages for having executed a warrant in Sandon Fee. On page 148 of his interesting book, the Rev. W.H. Summers mentions John Coxhead again.

John Coxhead '3' was baptised at Hungerford on 6th of May 1667. Mentioned in his grandfather's Will in 1688. He had three children by his wife Elizabeth as follows :-
John Coxhead '4' was baptised at St Lawrence's Church, Hungerford on 28th Nov 1712. He was married to Elizabeth Pettipher at Hungerford on 11th Oct 1734. Mentioned in 1758 (in the Will of his cousin Robert Coxhead of Sandon Fee, Yeoman), as being a 'tanner' of Charnham Str. Hungerford. He was Constable of Hungerford in 1770 and again in 1772. (updated entry :- John senior 'of Charnham Str' was buried in H-ford 14-2-1806, aged 94 years) There were two children by the marriage as follows :-
(1) John '5' b 1737 (see below)
(2) Elisabeth. Baptised at Hungerford on 27th Dec 1742. Mentioned in her uncle Robert's Will, in 1759.

Thomas Coxhead was baptised at St. Lawrence's Church Hungerford on 24th July 1767. He was married to Isabella, 2nd dau. of George Atkinson of Ellington in Northumberland, at St George's Church, Hanover Square, London on 7th Feb 1798. Elected a member of the Bank of England on 25th Sept. 1800. The records of the Bank of England state that prior to entering the Bank he was Garrison Clerk at Portsmouth under General Whitlock and that while awaiting the result of the Bank of England entrance examination, he was living at 69 Upper Berkley Str, Portsmouth Square. He retired from the Bank on 31st Oct 1821 and died at Haberdasher's Place, Hoxton, on the 9th of Jan 1827, aged 60 years. His wife, Isabella, died on 6th Nov 1837 at Belinda Street, New North Rd, London. There were five children by the marriage as follows :-
(1) George James. Born in the Parish of St. Marylebone, London on 26th Dec 1799 (Baptised 1st June 1800 at St. Marylebone Parish Church) He died at Baltimore, U.S.A. in Sept 1819.
John Coxhead '6' was born at 17 Old Str, London on 7th Feb 1804. (Baptised 13th May 1804 at St. Luke's Old Street, London. He was one of the few survivors from the ''Rothsay Castle'' (Steam Packet). which was wrecked in Beaumaris Bay on 17th August 1831 (See ''The Wreck of the Rothsay Castle'', by Joseph Adshead. Published in London, 1834). In 1835 he held a position of trust in the firm of Messrs. Desgrand, Fordati & Company, Merchants of the City of London. In 1848 he was partner in the firm which was then called Messrs. Fordati, Coxhead & Company, and by 1868 he was Principal of the firm which then became known as Messrs. Coxhead, Goldsmid & Company, Silk Merchants of 13 Old Jewry Chambers, London, E.C. He married Henrietta Laetitia dau.of Colonel Barnaby Maddan of the Kingston Militia, Jamaica, and Caroline Maddan dau. of Edward Strange Esq., of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, at the Parish Church of St. Pancreas, Middlesex on 24th March 1835. He died at 47 Russell Square, London on 13th August 1882, aged 78 yrs. His wife died at the same address on 29th May 1885. They were both buried in the Norwood Cemetery. There were ten children by the marriage as follows :-
(1) John James. Born at 47 Myddleton Square, Clerkenwell, Lon. on 11th March 1837, (Baptised 3rd May 1837 at St. Philip's, Clerkenwell). Educated at King's College, London & Corpus Christi College, Oxford. B.A. 1860. M.A. 1864. Deacon 1860 & Priest 1861. Curate of St' Clement Danes, Strand, London 1860 - 1863 and Fulham 1863 - 1867. Vicar of St. John's Fitzroy Square, London 1868 -- 1911. Member of the London School Board for 18 years. Married Martha dau. of John Gilliam Stilwell Esq., J.P., in 1867. There were no children by the marriage. He died at ''The Glen'', Heathfield, Sussex on 7th Sept 1912, aged 75 yrs and was buried in the Dorking, Cemetery.

(3) Laetitia Mary Ann Maria. Born on the 8th of June 1840 (Baptised 20th Jan 1841 at St Philip's, Clerkenwell). Married Dr. Henry Atkinson Tuse, son of Henry H. Tuse and Anna Maria, grand-daughter of George Atkinson of Ellington, Northumberland, at Saint Peter's Regents Square, London on 8th May (age 42 yrs) She died on 6th May 1930 at Warlingham, Surrey. Dr. Henry Atkinson Tuse died on 14th August 1890. There were two children by the marriage as follows :-
(A) John Atkinson (Tuse). Born on 15th September 1874. Educated at Whitgift Grammar School, Croydon, Surrey, Civil Engineer. Served in World War of 1914 -- 18 as a Captain in the Royal Sussex Regt. Died at Dar-Es-Salaam on 8th April 1918, aged 44 yrs, of blackwater fever. Married Annie Katherine dau of Lieut.-Col. Harry James Crauford of the Grenadier Guards on 14th Dec 1916. There was one child by the marriage as follows :-
Harry Crauford (Tuse). Born at Bangalore, Southern India on 26th Aug 1817. Educated at Wellington College 1930--34. Served in the Royal Artillery during World War 1939--45, attaining the rank of Major (awarded the M.C.) Married Monica Patience dau.of Lieut.--Col. W.E. Salter of Point House, Attleborough, Norfolk, on 5th October 1943.
(B) Henrietta Laetitia (Tuse). Born 6th May 1873. Married John Armitstead Wilson, 3rd son of William Brown Wilson of Dundee, at All Saints Church, Warlingham, on 14th Nov 1907. John Armitstead Wilson was appointed Controller of Civil Aviation under the Canadian Government in 1927 (Awarded C.B.E.). He died in 1954. His wife died in Ottawa, Canada on 11th January 1955. There were three children by the marriage as follows :-
(a) John Tuse (Wilson). Born at 355 Stewart Street Ottawa, Canada on 24th Oct 1908. Educated at Ashbury College, Ottawa 1919--25, at The University of Toronto 1926--30, and St. John's College, Cambridge 1930--32. Went to Princeton, New Jersey where he obtained a Ph.D. in geology. He left Princeton in 1936 and went as the head of a party from the Canadian Dept. of Mines to do geological work in Nova Scotia. During the World War of 1939 -- 45 he attained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Canadian Engineers (Awarded the O.B.E.). In 1946 he became Professor of the Geo-Physics at the University of Toronto. Married Isabel Dickson on 29th October 1938. There is one child by the marriage, a daughter, Patricia, born 12th June 1943.
(b) Mary Laetitia (Wilson). Born 2nd April 1911. Married Dr. Francis A. Ecklin of Montreal, son of Dr. E. B. Ecklin of Ottawa on 3rd Jan 1938 at Saint Bartholemew's Church Ottawa. There were two children by the marriage :-
Vals, born 3rd March 1939, and Diana, b 4th March 1940.
(4) Thomas Edward. Born on 30th July 1842. (Baptised on 28th April 1843 at St Philip's, Clerkenwell). Educated at King's School & College, London. Served in the Bengal Civil Service for 25 years. Died unmarried on 5th June 1890, at Darjeeling in India.
(5) Caroline Isabella. Born on 10th Oct 1844 (Baptised on 15th Jan 1845 at St. Philip's, Clerkenwell). Died unmarried on 18th August 1931, aged 87 yrs at 10 Riverview Gardens, Barnes, London.
(6) Albert Crease. Born on 8th Jan 1847 (Baptised on 9th June 1847 at Trinity Church, Regent Square, London). Educated at Chatham House, Ramsgate. Partner in Messrs. Coxhead, Goldsmid, & Company, Silk Merchants of the City of London. Married Ethel dau. of John James Hamilton Humphreys at St. Saviour's Church, Regent Square, London on 7th Oct 1879. He wrote a book on the life of Thomas Stothard, R. A. , which was published in 1906. He died on 10th March 1906 at Loughton, Essex. His wife Ethel died on 14th September 1923 at 30 Chester Terrace, Regent's Park, London. There was only one child by the marriage as follows :-
(A only) Mary Christina. Born at 70 Charlwood Street, London on 13th February 1887. Married Frank Sidgwick, eldest son of Arthur Sidgwick, Tutor of Corpus Christi College, Oxford at St. Saviour's Church, St. George's Square, London in June 1911. Frank Sidgwick was born on 7th July 1879. He was educated at the ''Dragon School'', Oxford 1889--93, Rugby 1893--98 and Trinity College, Cambridge 1898--1901. He founded the publishing firm of Messrs. Sidgwick & Jackson. He died 13th August 1939 at Dallywaters, Keston, Kent. There were six children by the marriage as follows :-
(a) Elizabeth (Sidgwick). Born in London on 14th June 1912. Classical Scholarship at Newham College, Cambridge 1930. Married John Belsey of Bromley on 13th August 1938 at Keston, Kent. John Belsey served in the West Kent Regt. during the World War of 1939 -- 45. There were four children by the marriage :-Charlotte Rose, born 3rd April 1940; Andrew John, born 12th Oct 1942; Jane Ellen, born 17th Dec 1944 and Miriam Susanna, born 10th Feb 1950.
(b) Ann (Sidgwick). Born London on 4th April 1914. Worked in War Damage Claims Office during World War 1939--45. After working with Turnstile Press, Holborn, she became a Director of ''Gannymed'' Galleries, Great Turnstile, London, W.C.1.
(c) Christopher (Sidgwick) Born in London on 23rd August 1915. Educated at the ''Dragon School'', Oxford 1925--29, Rendcomb, Gloucestershire 1929--32, and Heildelburg University 1933. Served with the Royal Engineers during World War of 1939 - 45 attaining the rank of Captain. Appointed to Central Control Government in Germany in 1946. Married (1) Edith elder dau. of Paul Schlinghoff of Dusseldorf, at Keston Church, Kent on 18th April 1939. There was one child by the marriage :-Anita, born 8th Sept 1940, (The marriage was dissolved in 1949). marr ied (2) Micheline de Coninck of Paris. There were two children by the marriage :- William Frank, born in London 10th February 1950, and Ralph, born in Paris 24th August 1954.
(d) Jeremy (Sidgwick). Born at Great Missenden, Bucks on 16th July 1917. Educated at the ''Dragon School'', Oxford, 1925--30, and R. N. C. Dartmouth, 1930--34. Entered R. N. E. College, Keyham 1935. During the World War of 1939--45 he served as an Engineer Lieutenant on H.M.S. Eagle and later on H.M.S. Illustrious. Appointed to H.M.S. Liverpool in 1946. Staff appointment at Admiralty as Director of Materials with rank of Commander 1954. Married Joan dau. of Lieut. Col. Salmon of Bathampton in June 1946. There were three children by the marriage :- Hugh Jeremy, born Bath, 16th Dec 1947, Christina, born in Malta, 21st Dec 1948, and Mark Henry, born at Bath, 27th Oct 1952.
(e) Mary. (Sidgwick), Born at Great Missenden, Bucks on 25th Oct 1919. Educated at Newnham College, Cambridge. Trained at West London and became a Doctor of Medicine. Entered the R.A.M.C. in 1944. Married Surgeon Lieutenant William Horsfall of Bermuda in December 1944. Emigrated to Australia in 1951. There were five children by the marriage :-Frances Nicola, born in London 21st Sept 1945, Katharina Ann, born in London 19th Jan 1948, Lucy Mary, born in London 26th October 1949, William Sidgwick, born Cairns, Queensland, Aust. on 2nd of August 1951, and Victoria Sophia, born in Cairns, Queensland, 13th Dec 1952.
(f) Priscilla (Sidgwick). Born at Great Missenden, Bucks on 7th March 1922. Film Technician with Gaumont British Animation Ltd. Cookham. Married Robert Lumley of London on 13th January 1951. Robert Lumley attained the rank of Captain in the Army during the World War of 1939---1945. There was one child by the marriage :-
(7) Frederick Charles. Born on 10th October 1848 (Baptised on 30th May 1849 at Trinity Church, Regent Square, London). Educated at Merchant Taylor's School, London 1860--67, and Brasenese College, Oxford, 1868--71. Barrister at Law. Married Amy Bruce dau. of Thomas Gribble Esq., at the Parish Church, Kensington, London on 2nd August 1888. He died on 12th Nov 1940 at 7 Essex Villas, Kensington, London, aged 92 yrs. His wife died at the same address on 25th Feb 1936. There were three children by the marriage as follows :-
(A) Maurice Edward. Born on 24th May 1889 (Baptised on 31st July 1889 in the Parish of Kensington, London). Educated at Eastbourne College 1903�1908 and Brasenose College, Oxford 1908--11. Gazetted to Royal Fusiliers 1911. Served with the First Battalion in Ireland 1911--14. Adjutant 9th Battalion Royal Fusiliers 8th August 1915. Killed near Momchy on 3rd May 1917, while in command of the 9th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. Buried at Arras. (mentioned in despatches 21st May 1917). Married Dorothea Florence only dau of Charles Allan Esq. In 1914. His wife Dorothea was awarded the M.B.E. in 1955 for public service. There were two children by the marriage as follows :-
(a) Diana. Born at Farnborough, Hants on 9th July 1915. Educated at Southlands School, Exmouth, Devon and at Oxford (2nd Class Honours Degree). Married Flight Lieutenant Clifford Cockcroft Barker, R.A.F.,eldest son of Dr. A. C. Barker, at St. Mary's Church, Black Bourton, Oxford, on 2nd Sept 1939. There were two children by the marriage :- Jacqueline, born 1st Oct 1940, and Colin Alexander, born 12th March 1947.
(b) Pamela. Born at Sidmouth, Devon on 20th Sept 1917. Educated at Southlands School, Exmouth. Served with the W.R.N.S. at Plymouth during the World War of 1939--45. Married Kenyon Shiercliffe Parker only son of George Parker Esq., of Budliegh Aalterton, Devon at the Parish Church, Yelverton, Devon, on 5th August 1941. There were two children by the marriage :-
Rosemary, born 23rd Nov 1942, and Sarah, b 18th May 1945.
(B) Olive Lydia. Born on 14th Sept 1891 (Baptised on 13th Oct 1891, in the Parish of Kensington, London). Married Louis Poulian who was an Officer in the French Air Force during the World War of 1914--18. There was one child by the marriage :- Jules Maurice.
(C) Henry Jessop. Born 22nd July 1893 (Baptised on 23rd August 1893 in the Parish of Kensington, London). Educated at Eastbourne College 1907--11. Served in the Royal Sussex Regt. and the Royal Tank Corps during the World War of 1914--28, attaining the rank of Major (Wounded, mentioned in despatches, and awarded the M. C.). Married Olive Norah, 2nd dau. of K. C. Bellhouse Esq., of Marlow at St. Mary's Church, Farnham Royal, Bucks, on 14th Sept 1936.
child of James Alfred(A only) Muriel Sydney. Born at 12 Fitzroy Square, London, on 8th March 1888.
(9) Algernon Barnaby. Born on 7th Sept 1853 (Bapt. on 10th May 1854 at St. Pancreas New Church, London). Educated at Charterhouse 1864--71. Member of the Stock Exchange in the City of Lon. for many years. Died 27th Feb 1940 at St. Stephen's Club, Westminster, 86 yrs. Buried at Hayward's Heath Cemty, Essex.
(10) Helen Cordelia. Born on 6th April 1855 (Baptised on 14th of June 1855 at St. Pancreas New Church, London). Married John Rawlinson Ford, elder son of Robert Lawson Ford Esq., of Adel Grange, Leeds, at St.George's Bloomsbury, London on 22nd march 1877. She died on 14th July 1933, at Yealand Manor, Carnforth, aged 77 yrs. John Rawlinson Ford died at Yealand Manor on 21st Oct 1834, aged 90 yrs. Both were buried in Yealand Conyers Churchyard.
Henry George. Born at 47 Myddleton Square, Clerkenwell, London, on 25th August 1838. (Baptised 6th Feb 1839 at St Philip's, Clerkenwell) Educated at M. Devrient's School at Vichy near Lausanne. Principal of Messrs. Coxhead, Goldsmid & Company, Silk Merchants, of the City of London on his father's death in 1882. Married Susan Amelia, 3rd dau. of Rev. Cornelius Thompson, Rector of Kirton, Notts., in Kirton Church on 11th June 1862. He died in Jersey on 9th April 1917, aged 79 yrs. His wife died at Clevedon, Somerset on 26th March 1931, aged 90 yrs. There were six children by the marriage as follows :-
(1) Godfrey Maddan. Born at Richmond, Surrey on 17th June 1863. Educated at Wellington College 1876--80. Died in Australia in 1931. aged 68 yrs.
Thomas Langhorne. Born at ''Glen Cottage'', Petersham, Surrey on 8th October 1864. (Bapt. 12th Nov 1864 at the Parish Church, Petersham). Educated at Bute House, Petersham 1874--82 and R. M. A. Woolwich 1882--84. Joined Royal Artillery 5th July 1884. Served in Burma Campaign 1886--87. (Severely wounded 10th Oct 1886, mentioned in despatches, medal with clasp, and awarded D. S. O., 1st July 1887). Captain, 26th June 1893, Brigade Major, Royal Artillery, China Expeditionary Force 1900--01. (mentioned in despatches, awarded medal). Promoted to Major, May 1903; Lieut.--Col. 21st May 1912. Retired 13th July 1912. Installed a Military Knight of Windsor on 22nd Sept 1914. Re-appointed Lieut. Col., Royal Artillery on 10th Sept 1914, and served throughout World War of 1914--18. (Mentioned in Gazette 1916, awarded the O. B. E., 3rd of June 1919). Married Eliza Lort, 2nd dau. of Rev. David Winter Morris, Rector of St. Peter's, Hasguard, on 25th Jan 1900, at Colaba, Bombay. He died at Windsor Castle on 15th Nov 1939 aged 75 yrs and was buried at Clewer Cemetery, Windsor. His wife died at Windsor Castle on 19th June 1928. There were two children by the marriage as follows :-
(1) John Ralph Winter. (see below).(2) Caroline May. Born at Coonoor, Nilgiris, India on 8th of May 1907. Educated at St. Stephen's High School, Clewer, Windsor 1916--24. Carried on a hand weaving business known as ''The Windsor Weavers'' 1933--39. Joined the Women's Land Army 8th Jan. 1940 and continued on farming work until 1953.
John Ralph Winter. Born at Freshwater, Isle of Wight, on 19th May 1903. Baptised 17th June 1903 at the Parish Church, Freshwater). Educated at Christ's Hospital, West Horsham 1914--18, and Allhallows School, Devon 1918--21. Entered Bank of England 24th March 1922 and retired from the Bank 7th March 1935. Farming and forestry work 1935--39. Served in H. A. C. 1931--36. Enlisted in Army 5th Feb 1940 and joined 86th (H.A.C.) H. A. A. Regt. Proceeded to 170th (M. G.) O. C. T. U., Aldershot. 2nd Lieut. Devonshire Regiment, 19th October 1940; Lieut. 19th April 1942; A/Capt. 14th June 1944; T/Capt. 14th Sept 1944. Released from Army 10th October 1945. On leaving the Army he took up literary work. He wrote the following books :-

This document was re typed and slightly updated by W.J.P. Coxhead in Nov. 1999.
A seventeen page (large print) copy of the original file which is held by the The Society of Genealogists in London, England, was sent to W.J.P. Coxhead, by a fellow 'Coxhead Family' researcher, in October 1999. His name is Mr Don Drummond of Wallington, Surrey, England.
It seems the original document was prepared in 1959 and the research carried out prior to that date.
I believe this is a most valuable document that would be of great interest to every Coxhead Family Researcher. I am most grateful to Don Drummond for finding this Doc and passing it on to me.

(6) Edwarde. Baptised at Hungerford on 10th September 1620. Robert Coxhead was baptised at Hungerford on 2nd June 1616. His wife was named Ann, but her surname cannot be discovered. He lived at Charnham Str and was buried at Hungerford on 24th August 1688. His Will was dated 20th July 1688 and proved on 22nd August 1688 in the Court of the Dean of Canons of Windsor. In his Will he mentions his grandsons John and William. He had nine children as follows :-
(2) Robert. Baptised at Hungerford on 26th November 1643. Married to Margaret Griffin at Hungerford on 22nd May 1670. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1688. According to ''The Story of Hungerford in Berkshire'', by Rev. W.H. Summers, page 144 :- Robert Coxhead, had received 4d for whipping a man and woman in 1689, and in the next year he received the same sum for whipping a ''vagabond'', but severity was again mingled with mercy, for the vagabond received three pennyworth of bread and a beer, and 6d was expended on a pass to preclude the necessity of his being whipped again''. It would seem that Robert Coxhead was acting in the capacity of bailiff at the time. His wife Margaret was buried at Hungerford an 2nd July 1701. There were seven children by the marriage as follows :

This time the worthy bailiff is helping a wounded soldier returning from the Battle of Sedgemoor :- ''Three wounded soldiers came up from Somerset in 1685 after the Battle of Sedgemoor; one had his wife with him, another was quartered at Widow Lawford's, where Peter Passion dressed his wounds, and he was fortified with ''waters'' or spirits. Then when he had sufficiently recovered John Coxhead rode away with him to Newbury. John Coxhead was married to Mary Curr at Hungerford on 1st January 1665. Mentioned in his father's Will in 1688. There were two children by the marriage as follows :-

(5) Sarah Maria. Born at Trafalgar Street, London on 12th Jan 1808. (Baptised 23rd July 1808 at St. Leonard's Shoreditch). She married William Cheffins on 21st April 1858. She died on 9th April 1876, aged 69 yrs, and was buried at Highgate Cemetery. There were no children by the marriage.

(3) Katharine Isabella Laetitia. Born at Richmond, Surrey, on 26th Oct 1866. Died unmarried on 13th April 1943, at Bournemouth, aged 77 yrs.
(4) Mary Helen. Born at Richmond, Surrey on 26th July 1868. Died unmarried on 14th July 1894 at Pieter-Maritzburg, Natal, aged 26.
(5) Susan Emily. Born at Hardwicke House, Ham Common, Surrey on 12th July 1871. Died u-m on 8th May 1913, at 2 Hillside, St. Saviour's, Jersey.
(6) John Codrington Charles Coxhead. Born at Hardwicke House, Ham Common, Surrey, on 4th June 1876. Educated at St. Paul's Cathedral Choir School and King's College, London. Served in Mashonaland Rebellion with the Mashonaland Mounted Police in 1896. Private Sec. to the Administrator of North Eastern Rhodesia 1898. Served in the Rhodesian Civil Service 1901--23. Appointed British Vice-Consul at Elisabethville, Belgian Congo 20th April 1925. Married Mary Horatia dau. of Brevet Colonel H. Dove, Royal Engineers, at Holy Trinity Church, Leamington Spa on 3rd June 1920. He died on 1st July 1943, aged 67 yrs. There were no children by the marriage.

- For �Tuse� read �Tuzo�. How the Tuzo family became Tuse is a mystery to me, but this no doubt is the reason why it has been overlooked that two members of the extended family are very well known in their respective fields, and can be found in reference books and in many places on the net.
Raynolds Coxhead of Hungerford, buried 6 June 1620
- What evidence is there that he went to Magdalen Hall? There is the following entry in Foster�s Alumni Oxoniensis: �Coxhed, Raynould, of Hants, pleb. Magdalen Hall, matric. 8 Nov., 1588, aged 13.� It�s the wrong county, Hampshire, not Berkshire! And is it likely that a Hungerford Coxhead of this generation would have had an Oxford education, even though Magdalen Hall was roughly the equivalent of a grammar school, not a higher education institution (hence the very young age, 13). No sign of such education in this family until the nineteenth century. Still, it is interesting that even at Magdalen Hall the pupils were required to matriculate, i.e., be admitted as members of Oxford University. But there is no mention of graduation, i.e., being awarded a degree. It is further interesting that on the previous page of Foster there is the following entry: �Coxedd, Humphrey, of Berks, pleb. Queen�s Coll., matric. 15 Oct., 1585, aged 15; demy Magdalen Coll., 1586-93, B.A. 11 Feb., 1590-1.� Right county, wrong first name. (Note that both were �plebs.�) What should we make of this? Surely it must remain undecided whether the Raynolds Coxhead of Hungerford was the same person as the Raynould Coxhed of Magdalen Hall, Oxford.

- General Sir Harry Tuzo was one of the most senior officers in the British army in the second half of the twentieth century. GOC Northern Ireland 1971-73; C in C BAOR 1973-76; NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe 1976-78. There were obituaries of him in all the major papers in August 1998, and he has an entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (2004).
