She was baptized in Manchester, Sunday 7th October 1849. Religion: Church of England. At 21 years of age Sarah became the mother of Mary HINCHLIFFE 1870. At 24 years of age Sarah became the mother of William Henry HINCHLIFFE in Salford, Lancashire, 1873. At 26 years of age Sarah became the mother of Samuel HINCHLIFFE in Salford, Lancashire, 1875. At 29 years of age Sarah became the mother of George HINCHLIFFE in Salford, Lancashire, 1878. At 30 years of age Sarah became the mother of Frank HINCHLIFFE in Salford, Lancashire, 1879. At 31 years of age Sarah became the mother of Alfred HINCHLIFFE in Salford, Lancashire, December 1880.

child 14 vi.Alfred HINCHLIFFE (#265) was born in Salford, Lancashire December 1880. Alf died Saturday 22nd December 1945 in Salford, Lancashire, at 65 years of age. He married May WHITE in Salford, Lancashire, Monday 1st November 1909. Although Alfred and May were married at the Register Office it doesn't mean that they did not have a religious ceremony. Many non-conformist churches were not licenced to perform marriages. On the certificate Alfred is recorded as an "Electric Car Driver". This may mean "Trolley car" (Electric tram). His address is 16 South Street, Pendleton, while May lived at 12, Bridgewater Street, Salford. (May WHITE is #649.)

May was born 1884. May was the daughter of Edward WHITE. May died Monday 4th February 1946 in Salford, Lancashire, at 61 years of age. The Lancashire Fusiliers Historical Research Enquiry Results:

Born Salford. Trade painter. Religion C of E. Married Mary (or May) White 1st November 1909. Disharged on completion of service (date not shown). Very good conduct. Posted to 1st Battalion.

Volunteered for the Boer War with Lancashire Fusiliers 28th Mounted Infantry in 1901. Medal: Queens South Africa Medal with Clasp Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal 1902.

Served in England, Ireland, Malta, Gibralta, Crete and South Africa.
