GALLASPIE
CRUIT'S FAMILY TREE - Info from Robert Cruit of Texas.
David G. Gallaspie’s (Louisa's father)
ancestors were said to
come
from Scotland. They came to America unknown. David was born in Virginia
about 1780 – 1790. He married Margaret Kell who was full blood
Creek-Cherokee. I believe her father was Cherokee and her mother was
Creek. Margaret was born in North Carolina in 1791. I do not even know
where David and Margaret are buried. It is very possible that they are
buried at Enon but have unmarked graves or somewhere else. The first
census record found in Monroe County, Alabama is in 1820
listing a David Galaspy as head of the household and then we find
Margaret is head in 1830 in Monroe County, Alabama. There are several
spellings for the surname.
David G. Gallaspie & Margaret Kell Gallaspie had 5
children:
1. Mary Louisa b Monroe County,
Alabama Jan 1, 1819.
2. Mary Ann b Monroe County
0/0/00.
3. James M. b Monroe County 1830.
4. Orlando R. b Monroe County
1835. A Cruit cousin
from
Mississippi sent a picture of a Lauder Gallaspie who is said to be a
brother of Louisa Cruit. I have no information on him. Possibly the
name is “Lander” a nickname for Orlando.
5. Mary Elizabeth b Monroe
County, Alabama 1836.
