"To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child. For what is the worth of human life, unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history?" Marcus Tullius Cicero, 106 B.C.-43 B.C.
"We have a tradition in Mexico that each person dies three times.
First, there is the moment in which the body stops functioning.
Second, there is the time that the remains are consigned to the grave.
Third, there is that moment, sometime in the future, in which the person's name is spoken for the last time.
Then the person is really gone."
Years later, Ted became interested in genealogy. It was then that he realized that those who preserve the memories of persons from their own family's past are preventing that third and final death. I could not agree more, and for this reason have been dedicated to the pursuit of genealogy.

patiently, then so gently
air and earth turn white.
