Reuben DOWNING, 1 was born in Connecticut in 1765; came to Wyoming in 1770; settled in Wilkes-Barre; married Hannah Buckley ARNOLD (b. 1774; d. 1842); [they] lived in Wilkes-Barre; [he] died there in 1842. They had:
Bateman DOWNING 2 (Reuben 1) was born in Wilkes-Barre 11 Jan 1795; married Sarah CAREY, daughter of Benjamin CAREY; removed to Hanover; resided on the Middle Road; was Justice of the Peace in Hanover in 1836; removed to Rock County, Wisconsin in the early 1840s; died there 24 May 1879. Bateman is buried in Fassett Cemetery, near Edgerton, Rock County, Wisconsin. They had:
Elias DOWNING, Sr. 2 (Reuben 1) was born b. 26 Jun 1816, Luzerne County, PA; married Jane Louisa DANA; Elias died 29 Jun 1874, in Wisconsin. Elias is buried in Fassett Cemetery [See his burial record at Find-A-Grave: Elias Downing, Sr.]. About 1879 Jane and some of the children, including Elias, Jr., moved to southern Kansas, near Udall. Jane was buried in Aztalan Cemetery, Aztalan, Wisconsin. They had (among others):
