Valentine KEYSER 1, of German descent, was born in Northampton County, PA, in 1769; lived in Northampton, now Monroe County, PA; removed to Hanover Township, Luzerne County, PA (Ashley); lived on the Back Road of Hanover, married Catharine Salome SAUM [b. c. 1775, daughter of Christian SAUM]; died in Hanover Twp. in 1847; [Catharine died in 1859].  They had:

Christian KEYSER 2 (Valentine 1) was born in Northampton, now Monroe County, PA; came to Hanover Township, Luzerne County, PA with his family about 1816; settled at Ashley (Scrabbletown); married "Teena" MERWINE; lived in Ashley; went West in 1855.  They had:

John KEYSER 2 (Valentine 1) was born in Northampton, now Monroe County, PA; lived and died there; married Frances MERWINE.  They had: Charles KEYSER 2 (Valentine 1) was born in Northampton, now Monroe County, PA; came to Hanover Township, Luzerne County, PA with his father's family; married Sally GRESS; lived on the Back Road below the Nanticoke Creek; died there.  They had: Reuben KEYSER 3 (Christian 2, Valentine 1) was born in Monroe County, PA in 1815; came to Hanover Township, Luzerne County, PA with his father's family; married Hannah KREIDLER (widow of Burton DOWNING); died in Hanover Twp. in 1872.  They had: Thomas KEYSER 3 (Christian 2, Valentine 1) was born in Ashley; married Emily DOWNING; lived and died in Ashley.  They had: Valentine KEYSER 3 (John 2, Valentine 1) was born in Monroe County, PA; lives [in 1885] in Hanover Township, Luzerne County, PA; married 1st, Margaret SINGER, and 2nd, Lovina KRESKY.  They had:


What follows below is additional information known about succeeding generations of this family, most of it provided by Agnes Freas KEISER, who was my maternal grandmother.

Edward Aaron KEYSER 4 (Valentine 3, John 2, Valentine 1) was born on 9 Jan 1858 in Hanover Township, Luzerne County, PA; married Sarah EDWARDS (b. 26 April 1862 in Hanover, d. 6 Aug 1926); died 14 Feb 1937.  They had:

Raymond Burton KEISER 5 (Edward 4, Valentine 3, John 2, Valentine 1) was born on 24 Mar 1882 in Hanover Township, Luzerne County, PA; married Faith WHITE; died 5 Dec 1958.  They had:

Thomas Hale KEISER 5 (Edward 4, Valentine 3, John 2, Valentine 1) was born on 20 Sep 1890 in Hanover Township, Luzerne County, PA; he lived in Askam, and graduated from Hanover Twp. High School in 1908; he attended Bloomsburg State Teacher's College, graduating in 1911 with a B.S. in Education; at Bloomsburg he played football and was captain of the baseball and basketball teams; he attended Hamilton Law School from 1911-1915, obtaining an L.L.D. but never practiced law; he met Agnes Amelia FREAS at Bloomsburg State, and they were married 30 Jun 1915, living in Wilkes-Barre, PA; his vocation was a school teacher; he helped found the Wilkes-Barre Business College; he also taught at Banks Business College in Philadelphia until 1930 and later at the Peirce School in Phila.; in 1931 the family moved to Collingswood, NJ; he joined Socony-Mobil Oil Company, Paulsboro, NJ in 1942 and worked as a lab technician in their Analytical Section, R&D until his retirement in 1955; later they moved to Woodbury, NJ, next door to their daughter's family; he died 12 Mar 1975 of a stroke at Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, NJ and is buried in Valley View Cemetery, Montdale, PA in the FREAS family plot.

Agnes Amelia FREAS was born on 22 Jun 1891 in Philadelphia, PA; she lived in Jermyn, PA and graduated from Jermyn High School in 1906 and from Carbondale High School in 1908; She attended Bloomsburg State, and graduated in 1910; she also attended Penn State College Summer School in 1913 and later Wilkes-Barre Business College; her vocation was a school teacher; later in life she helped establish a birth control center in Collingswood, NJ; she died on 9 Aug 1978 at home in Woodbury, NJ after a stroke and is buried alongside her husband.  They had:

Thomas Hale KEISER, Jr. 6 (Thomas 5, Edward 4, Valentine 3, John 2, Valentine 1) grew up in Collingswood, NJ and graduated from Collingswood High School in 1936; attended Peirce School in Philadelphia, earning an executive secretairal diploma; he served with the U.S. Army, Quartermaster Corps from 1941 to 1947, including service in the Solomon Islands during the Pacific campaign; he studied engineering at Syracuse University but left school to work at the Civic Broadcast Corporation (WOLF radio) in Syracuse; he lived most of his life in Woodstock, NY, and worked for IBM Corporation from 1956 to his retirement in 1987; he died at home and is buried in Woodstock cemetery.
