Mary Ann HOOD

OBIT: Mrs. Mary Sehi died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Brokamp, 58 Sherman Street, after ten weeks' illness.  Mrs. Sehi had been in a poor state of health since her son was drowned four years ago.  Her birthplace was Allegheny, PA.  She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Oliver VanZant, Mrs. Herbert Crawford, and Mrs. Fred Brokamp, all of this city, and Mrs. John Dant of Middletown, O, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Wagner of Brookville.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Andrew's church.  Burial will be made in Earlham cemetery.  Friends may call at any time.

BIOGRAPHY: 1910 census shows Mary's parents as both being born in Ireland.  1880 census says Baden, Germany.  I tend to think Germany is the more correct, since in the St. Gabriel Church record of her marriage to Peter Sehi, her name is shown as "HUT" instead of Hood.

BIOGRAPHY: Although Mary's youngest 3 children (Charles/Carl, Elenora and Edward) have the surname "SEHI," they were not Peter Sehi's children.  He died in 1876, before they were born.

BIOGRAPHY: In the 1880 census, Mary is shown as having three children:  "Kate 7," "Annie 4," and "Tracy 2"  Kate could be Mary Catherine, but Annie does not seem to be a nickname for Theresa M.  Is Theresa the "Tracy" listed in the census and born in 1878?  Is there another daughter born in 1875?  Have not found any other trace of an Annie Sehi in any of the records.

Charles A SEHI

DEATH: Drowned while swimming alone in the reservoir.
