Olivia Gwilym and the Llanguicke Pontardawe Board school

These photographs were contributed by Mrs Helen McDuff of Pontardawe - Olivia Gwilym was her paternal grandmother (Nov 2004)

Olivia Gwilym took and passed  her First Year Certificate Examination in 1899 and obtained her Teacher's Certificate in 1902.
On leaving Llanguicke School after three years Olivia went to teach in a school which had been established in the cellar of the Traveller's Well public house in Rhydyfro.
It was while she was teaching there that she met her future husband the Reverend John Rhys Price.
