Genealogical Record of the Schwenkfelders catharine


This family appears on page 40 of the book A Brief History of John Valentine Kratz, and a complete genealogical register with biographies of his descendants from the earliest available records to the present time. With portraits and other illustrations. by Rev. A. J. Fretz of Milton, N.J. with an introduction by R. W. Kratz (Elkhart, Ind.: Mennonite Publishing Co., 1892).

The entry reads:

V. Catharine Kratz, born May 30, 1809; died May 8, 1891. Mrd. (*)Jacob S. Yeakel, in 1829. He was born Mar. 17, 1803; died May 5, 1864. Weaver and farmer. Children: Samuel, Mary, John, Catharine.
VI. Samuel K. Yeakel, born Mar. 25, 1832. Mrd. Sophia Reitz, Oct. 4, 1858. P. O., 950, 5th St. Beloit, Wis. Carpenter. Children: Mary, Anna, John, Samuel, Harvey, infant.
VII. Mary Ella Yeakel, born June 25, 1860. Mrd. John F. Warehime, Nov. 24, 1881. P. O., Lake City, Iowa. Farmer. Mrs. Warehime, Methodist. One child: (VIII.) George O. Warehime, born Jan. 16, 1882.

VI. Catharine Yeakel, born May 27, 1847. Mrd. Quincey A. Fretz, Oct. 10, 1873. He was born July 18, 1847. P. O., Bedminster, Pa. Farmer. New Mennonites. One child: (VII.) Alice Y. Fretz, born --; died in infancy.

Catharine was the eldest of four daughters and second eldest of the seven children of Jacob Kratz, born 5 February 1771. He was a farmer who lived in Blooming Glenn, Pennsylvania. Jacob was the youngest son of John and Anna (Moyer) Kratz, of Hilltown Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. John was born 1732 in what is now Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, to John Valentine and Anna (Clemens) Kratz, and he died 1812. Anna Moyer, John's wife, was the daughter of Samuel Moyer. Anna Clemens Kratz was the daughter of the immigrants Gerhard Clemens and his wife Anneli Reif.

The Kratz family history gives Catharine's mother as ??? Latchaw.
