Genealogical Record of the Schwenkfelders emma

Anna's name was really Emma. This family appears on page 262 of A Genealogical Record of the Descendants of Henry Stauffer and other Stauffer Pioneers together with historical and biographical sketches and illustrated with portraits and other illustrations by the Rev. A. J. Fretz (Harleysville, Pa.: Harleysville News, 1899).

The entry reads:

VIII. Emma Stauffer, born in Lehigh co, Pa, Nov 21, 1851; m Adam S Krauss Oct 4, 1873. P O East Greenville, Pa. Menns. C: (IX) Nora Krauss, born Aug 16, 1874. Schwenkfelder. (IX) John Krauss, born Oct 18, 1878. Schwenkfelder. (IX) Pauline Krauss, b Mar 8, 1893.

Emma Stauffer was the eldest child of four children of John S. Stauffer and Hannah Struck. John Stauffer was born 3 February 1827 and died 27 February 1890. Hannah Struck was born 22 November 1827 and died in September 1888. John and Hannah were married 4 November 1849.

The family were Mennonites, and John was a farmer. Of their four children only two lived to adulthood. Emma's younger sister died three months shy of her eighth birthday, and the elder of her two brothers died three months shy of his fifth birthday. Her brother Daniel, who was six years five months younger, married Sarah Ann Moyer.

John was the son of Abraham Stauffer and Polly Schleifer. Abraham was the son of Abraham G. Stauffer (born 1759) and Eve Oberholtzer (born 1766). Abraham G. Stauffer was the son of Daniel M. Stauffer (born 16 March 1728, died 16 March 1790) and Catharine Gehman (born 31 May 1734, died 17 March 1790). Daniel was the son of the Daniel Stauffer who came to Pennsylvania with his parents Hans and Kinget or Kungold (Heisand) Stauffer, who settled near Valley Forge.
