Genealogical Record of the Schwenkfelders nancy

Anna Haldeman was also known as Nancy. Isaac and Anna were married at the Reform Church in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. They appear in the 1860 census in Media County, Ohio and in the 1870 census in Owen County, Indiana, which is where they were living at their deaths.

Anna was the daughter of, as the Genealogical Record shows, the Rev. Abraham Haldeman. Her mother was his first wife, Anna Bergey. The following appears about Abraham Haldeman and his wife Anna Bergey in the Genealogy of the BERGEY family:
from A Record of the descendants of John Ulrich Bergey and his wife Mary, compiled by David Hendricks Bergey, M.D., (New York, 1923), page 25:

35. ANNA BERGEY3 (Christian2), born in Lower Salford Township (???) and died (???). Buried in the Mennonite cemetery near Spring City, Pa. She married Rev. Abraham Halteman, born 30 August, 1780, and died 30 May, 1865; buried near Richfield, Pa. Rev. Abraham Halteman was a Bishop of the Mennonite Church, serving in Chester County and later in Juniata County, Pa. Children--in a release dated 4 May, 1829, releasing Abraham and John Bergey, the executors under the will of Christian Bergey, the grandfather of the children the following are mentioned:
     157. i. Samuel, mar. Elizabeth Bergey.
     158. ii. Abraham, mar. Catherine Stauffer.
     159. iii. Magdalena, mar. Paul Custer.
     160. iv. Mary, mar. Jacob Kline.
     v. Name not given.

Bishop Haldeman was the son of the Rev. Christian Haldeman and of Magdalena Fried. Christian was born 11 May 1744 and died 6 July 1833 while Magdalena was born 12 December 1749 and died 28 February 1837. He married Anna about 1800. He took, as his second wife, Elizabeth Funk, the daughter of the Rev. Jacob Funk and Mary Shelly; her sister was Fannie, who was married to Abraham's younger brother Benjamin. This tidbit is included simply because Benjamin and Fannie are my great-great-great-grandparents.

Anna Bergey was buried in what was called Rhoad's Burying Ground, and is now known as Vincent Mennonite Church burying ground, near Spring City, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The fact that she is buried there is recorded in The National Genealogical Society Quarterly, vol. 9, page 58. According to her tombstone she was born 5 March 1781 and died 22 January 1817, aged 36 years, 3 months, 16 days. The surname is spelled HALTEMAN. She was the daughter of Christian and Mary Bergey. Christian was born 13 June 1741 and died 24 March 1819 while Mary was born 18 November 1743 and died 28 October 1808.
