Jesse Schultz was also listed as being born, incorrectly, circa 1811-1812 in Pennsylvania.2 In 1860, Jesse Schultz had his name recorded as Jesse Shultz.3 He married Catherine Godshalk, daughter of Herman Godshalk and Mary Clemens Stauffer, on 4 October 1840 probably in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. George C. Wack.4 Jesse Schultz and Catherine Godshalk were also reported to have married on 4 September 1841.5 Jesse Schultz was a shoemaker in 1850.6 He resided in Norriton Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in 1850.7 Jesse was listed as a member of a church in St. Vincent Reformed Church, East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, after 1853. He was recorded as having received communion every time the Lord's Supper was celebrated from November 1856 to March 23, 1862. He died shortly thereafter. He was recorded as being a member "from organization," the church being founded in 1848, but becoming a Reformed congregation in 1853, and no records exist before then.8,9 He was elected an elder by the church convocation of St. Vincent German Reformed Church, East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, on Easter Monday, 5 April 1858. Abraham Taney was elected with him, and they were both re-elected elders on Sunday 6 April 1861. His second term had a month remaining at the time of his death.10,11 He was appointed to a committee to raise funds for the building of sheds on 9 April 1860 in St. Vincent German Reformed Church, East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. John Yeager and Abraham Taney were also appointed to the three member committee.12 He donated five dollars and hauled all the shingles in the construction of the church sheds.13 He was a farmer in 1860 in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.14 He died in March 1863 at age 53 years and 5 months.15 He was buried in St. Vincent Reformed Cemetery, Lot 53, East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.15 An administration bond on the estate of Jesse Schultz was issued on 26 March 1863 to Joel B. Good and Catherine Godshalk as his administrators.16 An inventory of the estate was filed on 17 April 1863 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Isaac Rosen and Samuel Mower became the appraisers of the estate on 26 March 1863 and they appraised the estate, valuing it at $1,207.44.17
Jesse Schultz appeared on the census enumerated on 14 August 1850 in Norriton Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Jesse was recorded as a 38-year-old male born in Pennsylvania, employed as a shoemaker and owning $1600 worth of real property.6 Jesse was listed as a neighbor of Jacob Finkbiner on the 1860 Census in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.18 Jesse Schultz appeared in the census enumerated on 20 July 1860 in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, as the head of the household. Josiah Schultz petitioned the Orphan's Court, following the death of his father, for permission to name his own guardian of his person and estate, on 8 June 1863 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The court granted the petition and Isaac Rosen was appointed.2
A Josiah Schultz was recorded as being one of the three founding elders at the Centennial Lutheran Church of Kimberton. It was organizated by the Rev J F Hartman in 1876, and the other two elders were Isaac R Root and George H Detterline. They purchased a Quaker meeting house and converted it into a church building, dedicating it in 1877.3 Josiah was listed as a member of a church in St. Vincent Reformed Church, East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, on 31 August 1876. He donated one dollar to the support of the Gospel.4 He appeared on a list of persons who had not contributed to the support of the ministry of the church, and this was his first year of non-support, in 1877 in St. Vincent Reformed Church, East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.5 He was buried in St. Vincent Reformed Cemetery, in Lot no. 33, East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The stone is unreadable, and next to him are three small stones, probably infants.6

He was recorded as a one year old male born in Pennsylvania.7 Josiah Schultz appeared in the census enumerated on 20 July 1860 in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, living with Jesse Schultz and Catherine Godshalk.
