The Devon Banks and Newton Abbot

all taken 1983 - 89: mostly 1987
Between Plymouth and Newton Abbot, both in Devon lie a series of severe gradients that in steam days would test locomotives to the full. Even today when it seems a High Speed Train can go up one as fast as it comes down, they still make the locomotive work to it's maximum capacity.
My best memories of the banks are of the summer of 1987 when I would park up along a shady lane, that hide a good vantage point to pass the time of day, not by the clock, but my the summer rail services.
While on these trips I first really grew to love a good well cooked hard boiled egg!
