I well recall that fist visit with my son to the capital. As we got off the train at Paddington I held his hand so hard it must have nearly dropped off!.. I had visions of him getting lost in the crowds.

We had many happy visits to London: to visit the museums, shop for toys at Hamleys and watch the trains here and there. 

To set the scene we would often stay at one of the great Victorian hotels attached to the London termini.
