Westbury is a place we would pass through often on the way to almost anywhere. It is a focal point of west of England rail and a very busy and important crossroads.

The night shots above would be taken when my son and I came back from a holiday in Portsmouth. Some times it was possible to see the "green" class 33 and on this shot of the same loco, my son, then very little is seen waving as it departs the station! Here is a more mundane class 33 and a DMU.

Here a DMU enters Westbury Station. This shows one of the then brand new heavy freight locomotives, designed and built in the USA for the stone traffic around Westbury - the class 59 "Leaders."
