Birth*23 February 1780 Solomon Coontz was born on 23 February 1780 at Hardy County, Virginia. 
 He was the son of Philip Coontz and Mary Heflebower. 
Death*18 July 1855 Solomon Coontz died on 18 July 1855 at Hardy County, Virginia, at age 75; Solomon died at age 75 years, 5 months, and 18 days. At the time of his death he was living on Mill Creek , a tributary or branch of the Cacapon River. Known today as the Mill Branch of the Cacapon.

Mill Branch rises from mountain springs on Timber Ridge (1,306 feet/398 m) south of West Virginia Route 127 near the community of Good. The stream meanders in a southwesterly direction along the western flanks of Timber Ridge, with Bear Garden Mountain (1,339 feet/408 m) bounding it to its west. Mill Branch continues to flow in a southwesterly direction between the two mountain ridges with Smokey Hollow Road (West Virginia Secondary Route 6) paralleling the stream to its east. The stream flows beneath the Northwestern Turnpike (U.S. Highway 50), continuing to flow along the eastern flank of Bear Garden Mountain. At the southern edge of Bear Garden Mountain, Mill Branch curves to the northwest and shortly after flowing beneath Christian Church Road, it empties into the Cacapon River south of Capon Bridge.

Marriage* Matilda Coontz married Fredrick Hill; Matilda married Frederick Hill, s/o John HIll tahe Revolutionary Soldier who built a stone house used as an inn. In 1815, Frederick Hill was sued by Phillip Koontz in Randolph Co. There is no evidence as to the nature of the
suit.

After Frederick died in 1852, Matilda married Garrett Cade on 17 Mar 1855 and they continued to live in the stone house that John Hill had built until as
late as 1863.
