Birth*4 July 1895 Morris Hubert Wagner Jr. was born on 4 July 1895 at Salisbury, Elk Lick Twp., Somerset County, Pennsylvania.1
He was the son of Morris Hubert Wagner Sr. and Annie L. Lichty
Marriage*1916 Morris Hubert Wagner Jr. married Julia B. Meese in 1916.
Death*23 June 1948 Morris Hubert Wagner Jr. died on 23 June 1948 at Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, at age 52; Hubert Morris Wagner of 441 W. Ravenwood Avenue Youngstown, O., died in the South Side Unit of the Youngstown Hospital at about 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, of a heart ailment. Mr. Wagner had been in failing health for nearly two years, and his last illness lasted about a week. He was taken to the hospital about 12 hours before his death, and about six hours after his admission, a son was born
to his son, Fred, and wife. His son informed him just before his death of the birth, but Mr. Wagner didn't live long enough to hear that his newest grandson
had been named after him.
He was born in Salisbury on July 4, 1895, son of Morris and Annie (Lichty) Wagner, and was 11 days short of 53 years old at his passing. He was married to Julia Meese, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Meese, just prior to World War I in which he served. He was a charter member of Earl H. Opel Post of the American Legion in Salisbury, and was very active until he moved to Youngstown about 18 years ago. He learned the barber trade in his youth and had followed that profession ever since, the past 17 years in the Y.M.C.A. building in
Youngstown. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church here, of Youngstown Lodge No. 615, F. and A.M. and Aut-Mori Grotto.
Mr. Wagner was very well known and liked in Salisbury because of his friendly and happy disposition. He had a good business here, but at the start of the depression felt he could do better in a larger town, and moved to Youngstown.
He has had only one vacation since he left Salisbury, spending a week or more here in the fall of 1945, shortly before his heart ailment curtailed his working
hours. His mother, Mrs. Annie Petry, had been with him for about the last two weeks of his life.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, Fred P. and Samuel L. Wagner, of Youngstown; his mother, Mrs. Annie Petry of Salisbury; four grandchildren; one
brother, Clyde D. Wagner of Poland, O., and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Petry and Mrs. Harry McClure of Salisbury.
Members of the Youngstown Lodge, F. and A.M. held services in the Hofmeister
Memorial Funeral Home in Youngstown on Friday evening at eight o'clock. Funeral services were conducted in the Home, Saturday, June 26, at 2 p.m., with Dr. Joseph Lloyd officiating. Interment was made in Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.
