1Homer W. Brainerd, Thomas Wheeler and Some of His Descendants, The American Genealogist, Vol. 12, pp. 5-6 (1935).
There is no mention of Joan Bryan as a wife of the son Thomas Wheeler here. Documentation in early literature seems to be lacking.
" THOMAS WHEELER (Thomas), born in Cranfield about 1591; died in Fairfield, Conn., 1654; married at Cranfield, May 5, 1613, Ann Halsey, who died in Fairfield in 1659.
His will is dated Jan. 16, 1653-54; inventory Aug. 23, 1654. Her will probated Aug. 1659. His will mentions sons John and Thomas and brother Thomas Lieutenant.
Children baptized at Cranfield:
i. Richard, bapt. June 13, 1614; perhaps died young.
ii. Anna or Hannah, bapt. Feb. 20, 1617-18; m. James Bennett.
iii. Thomas, bapt. Dec. 8, 1621; died at Concord, Dec. 24, 1704 in 84th year; m. first Sarah Merriam; second Sarah (Beers) Stearns. Sergeant.
iv. John, bapt. Feb. 27, 1624-5; married Judith Turney; settled in Fairfield, where he died.
v. Sarah, bapt. Dec. 27, 1627 or 1628*; m. Thomas Sherwood, Jr."
Also there is uncertainty as whether the Thomas born in 1620 is the son of Thomas born 1589/90 or the son of Thomas born 1561/2.
