Lydia Fairbanks

1William Richard Cutter, editor
Historic Homes and Places and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, Vol. 4 , pp. 1924-1925 (1908)

"William Fletcher, father of William just mentioned, was born in England, coming to America with his father; was admitted a freeman in 1643: acquired a large estate at Chelmsford, and this estate descended in the family for many generations, and a part of it is now within the city of Lowell. The first town meeting was held in his house, and he was chosen one of the first board of selectmen of Chelmsford. He died November 6, 1677. He married October 7, 1645 Lydia Bates who died October 12, 1704; children: Lydia, Joshua, Mary, Paul, Sarah, William, Esther, and Samuel Fletcher. Robert Fletcher, immigrant, father of William, came from Yorkshire, England, 1630, with wife and three sons, and settled at Concord, Massachusetts."

This is evidence that Lydia's first husband died in 1644/1645. She then married William Fletcher in 1645.

2Genealogical Dictionary of Early N. E. Settlers.
"Name given in Gen Dict of Early N. E. Settlers is Elizabeth -----. This person, if correct, would indicate that Richard was either a brother or cousin of Jonathan, as would seem logical. Warren Otto Jones, Max Kenneth Huff, and a host of others concur in this being the wife of Richard Fairbanks, sometimes also denoted Richard H. Fairbanks They all list Lydia G. Fairbanks as the daughter, born July 1, 1619. The Gen Dict only lists Zaccheus and Constance. That may be due to various factors, like she was deceased prior to his will, etc."

This gives Lydia's birthdate as daughter of Richard Fairbanks and Elizabeth (Daulton).
