"Samuel Roberts, American ancestor of Florence Clarissa (Roberts) Skinner, is believed to have been born in England. He settled in Stratford, Connecticut. He married Sarah, daughter of Edward Hinman, who was also the first of his family in America. Their son, Samuel (2) Roberts, was undoubtedly born in England, lived in Middletown, Connecticut, and died in 1726. He married Catherine Leete, who died October 13, 1693. Their son, Deacon Samuel Roberts, resided in Middletown, Connecticut, as early as 1691, and died there in 1739. He married, September 22, 1691, Mary Blake, daughter of John Blake, of Malden, England, born January 16, 1673, died December 16, 1724.
