JOHN CHESTER, of Wethersfierld, Conn., was married to Sarah Welles, daughter of Thomas Welles, one of the first settlers of Hartford, Conn., and of Wethersfield, and fourth governor of the Colony of Connecticut, February, 1653.
"The worshipful Capt. John Chester, Esq.," died February 23, 1698, in the 63d year of his age.
His widow, Mrs. Sarah Chester, died December 12, 1698, aged "about 67."

PENELOPE CHESTER was married to Rev. Ebenezer Williams, first minister of Pomfret, Conn., May 24, 1716. Ordained October 26, 1715. He was the son of Deacon Samuel Williams, of Roxbury, Mass., and grandson of Robert Williams, one of the first settlers of that town.
Rev. Ebenezer Williams died March 28, 1753, in the 63d year of his age.
His widow, Mrs. Penelope Williams, died June 27, 1764, in the 77th year of her age.
Children.
66 Samuel, born May 27, 1717. Died July 17, 1717.
67 Chester, born June 29, 1718. Was minister of Hadley, Mass., and was married to Sarah Porter, daughter of Eleazur Porter, of Hadley, August 23, 1744. He died October 13, 1753, aged 36. She died February 5, 1774, aged 48. They had 5 children.
68 Ebenezer, born May 26, 1720. Died June 11, 1720.
69 Nehemiah, born September 15, 1721. Died March 17, 1739.
70 Ebenezer, born November 22, 1723. Settled in Pomfret. Was married to Jerusha Porter, daughter of Hon. Eleazur Porter of Hadley, 1749. Col. Ebenezer Williams died August 22, 1780, aged 57. His widow, Mrs. Jerusha Williams died September 23, 1805, aged 71. They had 13 children; among them, Elisha, their twelfth child, was born August 29, 1778. He studied law, settled in Hudson, N. Y., in 1799, and "he became a few years after a very successful and eminent advocate at the bar, and rose rapidly and brilliantly in his profession." [Judge Kent.]
