Res. Thomas2 probably came over to this country with his father on the Defence, although his name is not included on the list of passengers of that ship. He was a farmer and inherited some 600 acres of land from his father in Cambridge Village (Newton). On April 12, 1665, he was chose Constable of Cambridge Village. He was admitted freeman of Cambridge, May 31, 1671. His estate was divided amonst his heirs in 1693-4, which estate consisted of 722 acres of land and part of a corn mill on Smelt Brook, which mill was erested by Lieut. John Spring.
